Meet the Author

Carolyn Barnes is a mother of two and a certified Pilates instructor, an overall health and wellness coach, a motivational speaker, and a TV personality. A former professional dancer, Barnes has been teaching her unique workout and healthy lifestyle system to women and young adults across the country, both privately and on TV. Barnes's cLEAN Momma program, which combines her techniques of dance, basic isometrics, and cardio with a healthy mind-set and smart eating habits, has been featured on Good Morning America, Style TV, KTLA News, CBS News, and The Doctors, as well as in the Los Angeles Times, the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, Shape, Fitness, Parenting, and Real Simple, among other publications.


Bob Arnot, M.D., is the New York Times bestselling author of fourteen books on nutrition and health. He has been a medical correspondent for NBC Nightly News, Dateline NBC, the Today show, CBS Evening News, 60 Minutes, and CBS This Morning, and is a health columnist for Men's Journal. He lives in Palm Beach, Florida, and Vermont.


Barbara Rolls, Ph.D., is professor of nutritional sciences and the Helen A. Guthrie Chair of Nutritional Sciences at Pennsylvania State University, where she heads the Laboratory for the Study of Human Ingestive Behavior. A veteran nutrition researcher and past president of both the Society for the Study of Ingestive Behavior and the Obesity Society, Dr. Rolls has been honored throughout her career with numerous awards, including Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and honorary membership in the American Dietetic Association. In 2010 she received the Obesity Society's highest honor, the George A. Bray Founders Award, and was elected to the American Society for Nutrition's Fellows Class of 2011. She is the author of more than 250 research articles and six books, including The Volumetrics Weight Control Plan and The Volumetrics Eating Plan. She lives in State College, Pennsylvania.

Mindy Hermann, R.D., is a writer who specializes in collaborative projects on cooking, food, and nutrition with researchers, health professionals, and chefs. The Ultimate Volumetrics Diet is her tenth book. She lives in Mount Kisco, New York.


Donna Richardson Joyner is a renowned fitness and lifestyle expert who has traveled to 50 states, 50 countries, and 7 continents motivating and empowering people to walk in the newness of good health. The only member to have served under both President George W. Bush and President Barack Obama on the President's Council for Fitness, Sports, and Nutrition, she has appeared in and sold millions of fitness videos, including Buns of Steel and the number one inspirational fitness video program Body Gospel. She is a former fitness expert for the NBC Weekend Today Show and ESPN Fitness Pros, and the producer and host of Donna Richardson: Mind, Body, & Spirit. An active philanthropist, she serves as an advisory board member of the Robert Wood Johnson foundation, the LPGA Foundation, and as a consultant for the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Donna is the founder of Grow Green Get Fit. She has been inducted into the Fitness Hall of Fame and has been named one of the "25 most inspiring women in America" by Essence magazine.


Krista Vernoff is the Emmy-nominated, Golden Globe-winning head writer and executive producer of Grey's Anatomy, a Writers Guild of America Award winner, and a playwright.


Adina Niemerow began her journey as a holistic chef studying healing with whole foods and Asian traditions in modern nutrition at the Heartwood Institute. She continued her culinary education at the Natural Gourmet Institute in New York City and has worked at top wellness spas and restaurants, including the French Laundry. She’s been a personal chef to Fortune 500 CEOs, fashion models, musicians, and movie stars, and she continues traveling the globe searching for secrets to thriving on a clean diet. She lives in San Francisco.
