Overview

The Best Kept Secret Is "You": A Journey into the Rabbit Hole with Autism and Love gives an inside look into the thoughts of the author, as he grew to understand not only himself, but the thoughts of his son with autism.

His story begins in 1958 and continues through 2011.

"As I was given to write this book, it starts with my childhood and my views as I grew up. Then came the gift of my first son who was labeled autistic, and without speech. He could not tell me his thoughts, so the only place I could go was inside to see my own thoughts, and as I relearned myself, I knew him. Then the awareness I was given allowed me to see within my thoughts, and this is how I met my son at twenty-nine-and-a-half."

To write this book, the author had to embrace living and being alone so he could hear his thoughts clearly. He hopes others will be helped by The Best Kept Secret Is You.

First-time author Daniel James Wilson was born in 1956 and raised in the San Fernando Valley. After his parents' separation when he was five, his schooling began to decline, as he could not read fast enough to keep up with the other students. In fact, he did not like reading, so he read very little. He only wrote what was necessary for his work after he dropped out of school at the age of sixteen and began roofing. In 2009, he was asked to write about his son. This is the result.

Well written. Great inspiration into finding yourself and dealing with situations that arise in our lives. The author seems to have first hand knowledge. I recommend this book to everyone.

This is a journey that is powerful and guaranteed to open everyone's eyes to communication, not only between a father and his speechless Autistic son, but just living to be yourself in a mixed up world! With doing a self evaluation, it offers much reference to clarifying our growth patterns throughout life, and what's expected of us vs. who we really want to be. By "allowing" ourselves, and only then, can it open doors to love and compassion to understand that we are all different, and we each have to discover ourselves. An amazing book, that I deeply relate with, in finding myself again! Excellent book to find re-discovery of yourself, with love and compassion, and quite simply: What would be your passion for living without worrying what other people think! Knowing we are all born to be different and unique in our own skin! This has always been a hangup of mine, trying to suit everyone else, so this book left me to question "ME" and I will be using the graph as my guideline for future happiness!

After many years of searching and asking myself,  "Who am I? What is my passion? How do I follow my passion?" I finally found the "key" I was looking for in "The Best Kept Secret Is You"   DJW's voice allows the reader to journey down the rabbit hole, meet his son as he did, and witness one's own self-  discovery in the process...and what a mind re-discovery it is!
