All Music Guide
The Best of Bonnie Raitt on Capitol 1989-2003 gathers the biggest and brightest moments of her time at Capitol Records, including definitive hits such as "Thing Called Love," "Nick of Time," "Something to Talk About," and "Love Sneakin' Up on You" as well as newer material like "Time of Our Lives" and "Hear Me Lord" from her 2002 album Silver Lining. The collection is fairly egalitarian, taking a roughly equal amount of tracks from each of her seven albums for the label, including 1995's Road Tested, which is represented by "Love Me Like a Man," "Rock Steady," and "I Believe I'm in Love With You." This approach might be too even-handed for Raitt fans expecting more songs from albums such as Luck of the Draw and Nick ...

Best of Bonnie Raitt on Capitol 1989-2003 [Australia]

I bought this in Europe and its a great collection of Bonnie music over the past decade while on Capitol Records. An American legendary singer/musican and a supporter of the early musicians who gave us all this great music over the past several decades, Bonnie continues to treat those fans who relish the way music should be made, from the heart and with a dash of polish and fire. Its hard to find slide guitar played like this, man or women. Not since Lowell George, a mentor for sure has slide fit with such a voice! Some of her best is included here, it must have been difficult with all the gems she's recorded for Capitol over the past 13 or so years. Although she has been brushed aside by some less than genuine musical trends over the past several years, Bonnie continues to pump out her ageless bounty of songs mostly about the ever evolving journey of the heart, both the ups and the downs of love. A treasure and classic artist that continues to amaze with every new release, Silver Lining being her latest and one of her best!

Best of Bonnie Raitt on Capitol 1989-2003 [Australia]

with all the material Bonnie has put out since joining Capitol Records in 1989, this is just the tip of the commerical sound of Bonnie Raitt. There are many more class songs full of blues, funk,R&B not to mention Rock & Pop gems left out (Gnawin on it) for instance and I loved the duet with John Lee Hooker that got Bonnie her first Grammy back in 90'(from John Lee Hookers collection). I do like the live track inclusions and I'm sure when the USA Best of Bonnie Raitt is released in the fall of this year, there will be some fine tuning to these 18 songs. Bonnie is touring Europe this summer so a best of makes sense while out on the road and will give fans a taste of many things they most likley missed. Bonnie Raitt is one of our finest singers, guitarist and humanitarians, this is long overdue.
