Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble - Tracy E. Hopkins
This aptly titled disc features an urban music first -- a full-length collaboration between an R&B star (R. Kelly) and a rap star (Jay-Z). For fans who like their soul thugged-out and their hip-hop melodic, this is truly the best of both worlds.
All Music Guide - Jason Birchmeier
Both R. Kelly and Jay-Z were flying high around the time of The Best of Both Worlds, so the idea of a collaborative album was a reasonable one, following up the success of The Blueprint 2001 and TP-2.com 2000. Unfortunately, Jay-Z's contributions interjections and verses, mainly sound like filler on The Best of Both Worlds, although Kelly fares better, supplying some potent hooks and co-producing the tracks with the Trackmasters i.e., Poke and Tone, but he can't carry the album alone. Still, there are some moments where the collaborations click, particularly on the album's singles, "Get This Money" and "Take You Home with Me."
Rolling Stone - Kris Ex
The Best of Both Worlds is far from the musical epic these men are probably capable of making together, but it should quench (with a small twist of conscience) its audience's insatiable thirst for thug life.

    A great album

On this entire album Jay-z shows off his patinant swagger dropping 16's like their to heavy for average hands to hold. R. Kelly was the icing on the cake but no Jay no album... The intro is bananas and "Get this money" is fire

    Very Good Album!!

I was lucky enough to get my hands on a pre-release copy and I have to say there was only a few songs where I thought the beats were off. All in all I give it a 4.

    my opinion does matteer

Jay z much love to ya, you are the best lyracist on dry land, R. Kelly, your work is beautiful, but I should have never watched that video tape of him it really gave me a bad impression every time I hear his voice let alone his name I get the chills. 2 words SUPER FREAK. If Jay z wasn't behind this album I wouldn't have purchased it. But for the most its HOTT!!!!!

    Almost...

These two are my favorite artist from each genre... but... they could have put some more into it. Don't get me wrong... you can let the album play... But if you are fans of these two... you KNOW they could have done better!
