Overview

Best of Gene Watson is a ten-track budget-priced collection that culls highlights from his recordings for Curb in the mid-'80s, including the two hit singles "Got No Reason Now for Goin' Home" and "One Hell of a Heartache." Watson wasn't at his commercial or artistic peak during these years and as a result, Best of Gene Watson shouldn't be seen as a definitive overview of his career, or even a worthwhile introduction to his music. Instead, it's a sampler of a brief period of his career that may appeal to fans who want a collection from each stage of Watson's career.

With the music being played today under the title of ''country music'' makes this album, as well as all of Gene Watson's music stand out as a real, traditional, country sound. It is great. He is truly one of our outstanding country singers.
