The Best of Louie Louie, Vol. 1
This brief CD (only ten tracks) is the first and best of two compilations featuring different versions of Richard Berry's immortal "Louie, Louie." You get versions spanning from Berry's original to a schlock job by Les Dantz and His Orchestra. The Kingsmen's chart-blazing remake is included, but not Paul Revere & the Raiders', whose remake charted around the same time. (It's on the second edition.) The ten-cent question is, since each CD -- Volume 1 and 2 -- only have ten songs each, and none are disco length, why didn't they just compile all 20 on one disc? Could it be that research revealed that listening to 20 different versions of "Louie Louie" in a row is akin to drinking a bottle of castor oil without a juice or soda-pop chaser? Originally released in 1983 on vinyl and cassette.
