Overview

These 63 spine-tingling stories originally appeared in Alfred Hitchcock’s Mystery magazine, and in the words of the master himself, they’ll “make your blood run cold.” Hitchcock coolly serves up cool cops, clever gangsters, bodies stuffed in trunks, kidnappings, adulterous affairs, murder, and espionage, and the resulting thrills are positively delicious. Good Ol' Alfred Hitchcock

Oh how I remember being a youngster and watching Alfred Hitchcock on television. I loved that show and seeing this compendium in the store inspired me to buy it. I am not yet finished with the book but I haven't read a story in it yet that I haven't liked. I FREQUENTLY read this book before I go to sleep, despite the warning!! Being a collection of short stories it allows for quick reading with nothing being drawn out. With 63 stories included, it will allow for hours of enjoyment. I saw that they have used copies here; I bought my copy in the store, new. If I had known I could get it that much cheaper here I would've done so. Regardless that I spent more I still feel like I got my money's worth with this book. Check it out.

    LOVED this new collection!

I bought this book, because I own its predecessor, Alfred Hitchcock's Tales of Terror. Although the same size, I found this series far more enjoyable than the "Terror" edition. It's not that the "Terror" was bad-it was excellent as well, but this book was more intellectual. My favorite short in this book was Damon, Pithias, and Delilah Brown. Although I have many others.

    Good reading

I use this book mainly for a nice story before bed. As a collection of stories the writing styles differ, some have more flow than others, but they all have that Hitchcock feel.

    Excellent Collection

We bought this book to introduce our 13 year-old son to good mystery writing. The short stories are a few pages long each, and just the right length for evening reading before bedtime. We read the stories together as a family, and discuss it afterwards. It is an excellent collection of stories with fascinating twists and turns.

Good short stories, but all too similar

Enjoyed reading the first several stories, but they became the same type of story in a lot of cases with different plots.
