The Best of the Doors

A well-chosen, 19-track compilation balancing the radio hits with the longer, more complex song poems. It's a good sampler (and contains enough of the good tracks from Strange Days that we didn't bother to list that album separately), but this is one group for whom you need to hear the whole story.

This album is great for first time or classic Door listeners. It shows their talent and how they capture the feelings of all of us.

Awesome is the word....The Doors are my favourite band, and I am half the globe away in India, and you would be surprised with the number of Morrison fans here

Jim Morrison and the Doors broke through the music genre. Previous to them, there was rock and roll, and ''The King'' reigned. The name of the band itself, The Doors, explains what they are all about. They opened the doors to a new genre of music. This album is a compilation of all of their greatest hits. Starting from their original hit that they performed at bars before anyone knew them as anything other than the band with the strung-out guy in black leather pants. Break on Through was an original, it is the song that made them what they still are today, legends. The song that was performed on the Ed Sullivn show, and got them kicked off for life after one of Morrisons escapades onstage. Then the album contains the last song the band edited together, another title to truly remember, Riders on the Storm. Their background sounds of rain made the song another breakthrough in the music industry, a tactic that later made Pink Floyd famous. The Best of The Doors might have been compiled long after Morrisons death, but the songs on it led to a whole new era of music. Acid rock was born with the songs from this album. Musical groups such as Jefferson Airplane, Pink Floyd and Led Zepplin were born, thanks to the songs from this exquisite album. These bands have The Best of The Doors to thank for their success.

This is a great collection of songs from a great band. A definite must have for any fan of the Doors. Even though Jim Morrison is dead, his music will live on forever.

I never knew of the group before I had to watch the movie played by Val Kilmer. How interesting the songs were. The lifestyle of Jim is that of a real rock and roll star. I wish that he had lived abid longer to thrill the world like his countapart Bob Marley did with Raggae music. My favouraite songs of these artists are "the End, LA Woman, Roadhouse Blues,Riders on the storm just to name a few. I think that the whole album is a blessing to all rock and roll listeners. I am priviladged to have a copy of this CD. I hope that people who have still not come to understand what this group was all about shoud try listening to it just for a while and see for themselves.
