Overview

The Better Life, 3 Doors Down's debut album, positions them somewhere between radio-ready post-grunge and more aggressive alternative metal. The best songs are memorable exercises in that style, and even though the songwriting is uneven, that's often to be expected from a first record; there is at least an indication of potential here. [Universal issued a "Deluxe Edition" of the album in 2007 that added a bonus disc made up of a 13-track live set.]

When I first heard this song, 'Kryptonite', on the radio...I thought it was Metallica's new song my friends were telling me that was out. (Of coarse, the song of Metallica's is 'I Disappear'!!!) This new heavy group really got ahold of my earlobes because of their style in 'Kryptonite', which is very much like Metallica's style of music. ...And I like Metallica A LOT!!! So, I am defenently looking in to purchasing a copy of this CD..... and so should YOU!!!

I haven't heard much talent like this since the likes of Nirvana and Pearl Jam in the early 90's. It's great to finally hear something other than a manufactured pop star on the radio. Expect to hear more good stuff from this band in the future.

This is one of the awesomest albums i've heard in a while. The 1st time i listened to it, i didn't like it that much, but the more i heard it, the more i liked it. It's got really relatable lyrics and really catchy melodies. I definitely reccomend it to anyone!! especially people who like rock music. (-:

This album is flat out the junkiest thing ive ever heard. They don't have any skill at all. I listened to it once then threw it out.

The best band I've heard in a long time. The lyrics are stong and make you think.

A bit of Nirvana, a bit of Nickelback, a bit of Metallica and much of 3 Doors Down. A good combination, a solid record! So why not 5 stars? In my opinion, ''The Better Life'' is jumping too much between genres - they have to find their way.

Great vocals, and melodies, lyrics that stand out and don't offend your intelligence, great bass and drum beats and good hard rocking guitars. 'days of the new meets creed meets lynyrd synyrd. cd gets better the more you listen to it.not a stinker on it.

I gave it five stars with only hearing Kryptonite. That song is awesome, I love the beat and rythym of it.

This is probably the best CD I own...(and thats a lot) every song on here is great...and quite a few deserve an appearence on radio...It's well worth the money!!! I got it today...and it hasn't stopped playin!!! Loser, Kryptonite, and Smack are awsome!! A great CD i should say, I would buy it right away! Every song is a deal! At any price its considered a steal!!!

I bought this Cd after hearing only one song, Kryptonite. I never do that. I have to hear a few more songs first. I do not regret buying this CD. I love every single song on it. That's pretty rare for me cause I usually only like a couple songs on the CD's I buy. This is a must have for anyone who loves good music. Three Doors Down is going places. They are here to stay!

What can I say? I heard ''Kryptonite'' on the radio and loved it! Then I downloaded ''Loser'' and loved that one too! 2 days later I bought the CD and there isn't a single song I don't like! I'm pretty picky about my music, usually it's hit and miss. Three Doors Down has that unmistakable ''Alternative'' sound, without being too obnixious like some groups. Give it a try, I guarentee you'll love it!

The Better Life is probably the best CD I've heard in a LONG time. The CD hasn't come out of my stereo for 3 weeks (since i bought the CD) and I don't intend for it to. Loser is an especially great song.

The CD starts out good with Kyptonite and Loser, but then rapidly deteriorates to trite lyrics and an undertone of death in virtually every song. The CD goes harder rock inside but nothing G&R would have to worry about. The lyrics of their songs are very unimaginative. I am very disappointed with the CD.

Been in music over 30 years and these guys rock out , as well , or better than the best I have ever heard . With good material , the sky is the limit for this band !

I've only heard one song from this CD (on the radio), and that's ''Kryptonite''. If you read the other reviews here, you'll find that many people are wild about this song. Well, I am too! The verses in the song are great, but the real reason most people listen to the song is for the amazing chorus. I particularly like the way this line sounds on the song: ''If I go crazy then will you still call me Superman?'' If you haven't already listened to the clip of the song that bn.com has so nicely provided for you, then do that NOW! What the heck are you waiting for? I can almost guarantee that you'll REALLY like ''Kryptonite''. I'm not going to waste anymore time telling you people what a great song this is. If you are too lazy to listen to the clip, then that's your problem. You'd be really missing out on something, though. Give it a shot. It's not going to hurt you.

I had no idea what i was getting myself into when i bought this cd, I don't think i can truly say this about any cd, but i love almost every track...each song has something about it, i'm not sure if it's the lyrics or just the rocking tune. I was dying to see them in concert when they opened for creed, but they didn't open for the show i saw at jones beach...days of the new did instead. i'm dying to see them live ANYWHERE, i don't care if it's some hole in the wall bar or an all out concert at the PNC art center. I think i can honestly say they have become one of my favorite bands. You should really check out this cd. I admit i didn't really listen to the whole thing when i first bought it, but now my fav's are by my side, so i need you, duck and run, down poison. 3 doors down really brings something into the mix of what's out there today. they are a unique blend of real rock and alternative. Something you can feel when you hear it...

I think this CD's cool.... Kryptonite rocks!!!

The twisted lyrics mixing comic book characters, a man on the verge of insanity, and hard rock describe their first single ''cryptonite.'' The rest are pretty good. The albuums okay, but not may fav.
