Truth versus the Myths of Christian Fundamentalism

Has anyone ever informed you that you were going to Hell, because the Bible said so? Besides being shocked and hurt, did you have a reasonable answer for this person who believed to foresee your eternal destiny? Learn the conclusions of modern Bible Scholarship and the real reasons why the Bible is not the "inerrant Word of God" that Christian Fundamentalist use to base their threats on. Pictures and descriptions of the oldest known New Testament Greek manuscripts are detailed, such as the Saint John Fragment (pictured in actual size on the front cover, the oldest known NT manuscript fragment). Codex Sinaiticus, the oldest manuscript containing the entire New Testament (dated 350AD), and others among the oldest known New Testament Greek Manuscripts available to mankind today for observation and study, are pictured and described. Differences in these existing manuscripts, or "Variant readings" are discussed. Evidence for dates of the original New Testament books which have long since been lost or destroyed, the 400 year formation of the NT Canon, and the impact of Greek Philosophy on the New Testament, are all weighed against Christian Fundamentalist claims of Biblical inerrancy. The outrageous hoax of modern Bible Prophecy, the "left behind" myth, the "rapture" and the "War of Armageddon" falacies are critically examined and put in their proper historical perspective. Know the Truth about the Bible as you discuss these subjects with your "Born Again" and Christian Fundamentalist friends and family. Don't let them push you around, help them move on to a more maturespiritual worldview with this great book!

An honest look at Christian Fundamentalism

Highlighting the fact that we do not possess the original New Testament Manuscripts and that the manuscripts mankind does have are not in complete aggreement with each other, the author shatters the myth that the Bible is the actual "Word of God". This work also exposes the violence in the Old Testament done in the name of God for the myth and epic literature it actually is. Recognizing the historical place the Bible has served in the collective conscious of Western Civilization, the author also recognizes the wisdom and inspiration the Bible provides for every day life and the many paralles this wisdom has in the faiths of other cultures. A good read.
