Overview

In 1975, DC Comics published a comics adaptation of the Bible as part of a series of tabloid-sized comic books. This first book in the projected series adapted the earliest chapters of the book of Genesis, including the stories of The Garden of Eden, the Flood, and Sodom and Gomorrah. While the adaptation never continued, this first volume has become something of a legend among collectors. Now, for the first time, DC reprints this hard-to-find classic in a deluxe hardcover edition.

About the Author

Born in 1917, Sheldon Mayer was a longtime writer and editor for DC Comics. Mayer's Sugar and Spike ran for 15 years and 98 issues, which stands as one of the longest uninterrupted runs by a single creator in comics history. Mayer passed away in 1991.

Born in 1926, Joe Kubert began his comics career at the age of eleven as an apprentice in Harry "A" Chesler's comic book production house. He has worked in the industry ever since, and in his more than sixty years in the field he has produced countless memorable stories for countless characters, including DC's Hawkman, Tarzan, Enemy Ace, Batman and the Flash. Kubert also edited, wrote and illustrated the DC title Sgt. Rock, which he contributed to for thirty years. In 1996 he produced Fax From Sarajevo, a gripping graphic narrative that earned him critical acclaim. In 1976 he founded the first and only accredited school devoted solely to the art of cartoon graphics: The Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art in Dover, New Jersey, which has since produced many of today's leading cartoonists.
