This ambitious undertaking lists ``the name and address of every club, nonprofit organization, tour operator, cycling event, manufacturer, and supplier'' that the authors were able to find. The most significant addition to cycling literature offered here is seemingly the most obscure: 16 pages on traveling and packing for airlines, trains, buses, and UPS; a 23-page U.S. BMX track location directory; a 73-page book, magazine, and video list; and 33 pages of organized club rides. Other standard fare includes nutrition, clothing, touring, and maintenance. The extensive lists of manufacturers and suppliers is a major plus. A fine section on the history of cycling concludes the book. Recommended for public libraries. Illustrations and index not seen.-- Thomas K. Fry, UCLA Libs.
The motherlode of bicycling resources and information, listing sources for bicycles, parts and tools, clothing, safety gear, training equipment and cycling publications, contacts for touring, traveling, competing, and joining organizations and clubs, and well-written, enthusiastic articles on selected aspects of cycling.
