The Big Belly Flop is a, somewhat fact filled, short detailing Kent as a youth, and several of his buddies, taking on the dreaded multi-level diving platform at the neighbor hood pool.
Great grilling and barbecue is always served up with a side dish of memories and tall tales no matter where the cook out is taking place. Kent "The Deck Chef" Whitaker shares some of his humor based stories with readers just as if you were standing by his grill enjoying a cold beverage waiting for a tasty burger or a rack of ribs from the smoker.
Every story in this collection is followed with an original recipe from the award winning culinary author, cookbook writer and grilling guru.
Kent Whitaker proves that he is the King of the Grill not only with his savory dishes, rubs and sauces but also with his short stories based on his life.
Kent Whitaker has taken his down-home, Southern-style cooking to an art-form. "I like to do a bit more than burgers and dogs on the grill."
He is the author of three cookbooks, Tennessee Hometown Cookbook (Great American Publishers, 2007), Smoke in the Mountains and Checkered Flag Cooking (Quail Ridge Press), and has written and illustrated two children's books, Why are the Mountains Smoky?
