Overview

If you repeat a lie often enough, it seems to be true. Liars create the illusion of truth. A lie told once remains a lie but a lie told a thousand times becomes the truth. This is obvious if the lie is forced into our minds 24 hours a day 7 days a week every year for decades. If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The constant repetition in many different media is necessary for the success of the Big Lie technique, as is a psychological motivation for the audience to believe the extreme assertions. The lie is so big that it reorders the world. And so part of telling the Big Lie is that you immediately say it is the other side that tells the Big Lie. Sadly, but it is just a matter of record. Repetition is important, because the Big Lie works through indoctrination. The Big Lie then becomes its own evidence base. If it is repeated enough, people believe it, and the very repetition almost tautologically becomes the support for the Lie. There is comfort in repetition, and so a people or a nation under duress will gravitate more toward what is repeated to them than what is realistic. The Big Lie has been used as a way to spread misinformation with the purpose of convincing the public that the invasion of a country is justified. History is written by the winners. When two cultures fight, the loser is annihilated, and the winner writes the history books, which glorify their own cause and denigrate the conquered foe. History then becomes a fable agreed upon.
