Overview

Handsome tycoon James Putnam is acting CEO of his family's logging company, Putnam Industries. He needs to land a big deal to prove to the board he's capable of leading the company. If not, his father's right-hand-man is more than willing to fill the role. James hurries to Indigo Island alone, certain he has what it takes to win the bid, earn the CEO title and save the island from uncontrolled logging.

Aubrey Templeton is a gorgeous magazine reporter facing a mountain of debt after her parents' tragic deaths. The only asset she has to leverage is 2,500 acres of old growth forest on Indigo Island. She hires Dirk Cooley, a forester, to create a forest management plan for her family's land and to solicit multiple logger bids to lease the land. Aubrey insists James Putnam's company is included since she still hasn't forgotten the one night of incredible sex they shared over a year ago, and she's sure he'll be eager for a repeat performance.

What Aubrey doesn't know is that James is a changed man, who is determined to prove he didn't get his job as a birth right. He is determined to never again mix business with pleasure, although keeping Aubrey at arms length during their negotiations tests James' discipline and will power, especially as he finds himself in the role of tour guide for the sexy landowner and later as her protector when an unscrupulous forester targets them both in a revenge plot hatched to destroy the Putnam family.

This is the 2nd book in the Indigo Island series. Meet Aubrey and James. Aubrey is on Indigo Island to contract her parents land and has invited James Putnam as one of the bidders to the meetings. A year ago they had met and Aubrey hopes another night with him might be just what she needs to move on after the loss of her parents. Problem is, she hates the bid James put together and it turns out he doesn’t remember their night together. James wants to keep the land intact and needs this bid to show the company’s board that he can actually do the job of acquiring this bid. Unfortunately the man Aubrey is working with just wants the land to go to the highest bidder and doesn’t care what happens to it. Can James not only show Aubrey the good he can do with the land but also that he sincerely regrets not remembering her the first time they met? I really enjoyed their story. It was heartwarming, emotional and sexy all rolled into one!

Aubrey's lost just about everything and needs to turn her world around to survive. After being betrayed by an employee, she is leery of James's bid and offer to help. But slowly, he builds her trust, and in that trust, they find love. A delightful read. **I received an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion**

James Putnam is working to get his life back on track and to claim his position in the family business. It's important he win the timber contract for the Templeton land. James and Aubrey spent a night together a year ago. She has never forgotten him, but James doesn't remember their time together. Can they get past this and work together? Both these characters are struggling with emotional issues, but the attraction between them is still there. I wanted to see them put aside their pain and face their destiny. When they are together, their attraction is intense. The secondary characters are interesting and troublesome. I was angered by the underhanded tactics used by their business rivals. I rooted for them as they battled to save the land and their love. This was a well plotted story that had romance, laughter and healing. The beauty and tranquility of Indigo Island was the perfect backdrop for The Billionaire's Bid. It highlighted this passionate story of second chances and redemption. Kaira Rouda's story left me smiling.

The Billionaire's Bid Aubrey Templeton unexpectedly lost her parents last year leaving a lot of debt, and now she is trying to find a way to hold on to the family's land and home on Indigo Island. She hired a professional to help her find the best option. James Putnam has cleaned up his act, and, with his father ill, he is next in line for CEO of their logging company. He just needs a deal to prove himself to the Board. Aubrey Templeton's land may be just the deal he needs, plus it will give him a chance to save the land adjacent to his family home. Unfortunately, he comes in with two strikes: the "professional" doesn't like him, and he forgot the "amazing" evening he spent with Aubrey a year ago...before he cleaned up his act. As James and Aubrey work through misunderstanding and missteps, both find common ground in finding the best way to help Aubrey and still protect the land. This was a quick read, and enjoyable. For me, it missed out on being 4 or more stars because the characters needed a bit more development and the pace was a bit off. I feel like the author tried to cram too much into a short story and I didn't get a chance to get to know the characters and the story felt a little choppy. I tend to think the author is still getting used to writing shorter stories. While it is a part of a series, it can be read as a stand alone. There are characters that we revisit, but the background needed for this story is covered. I received an ARC from the Publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Deception, deceit, and awkward moments occur, as James and Aubrey try to build their future, separate or together, and take care of the Indigo Island's future as well. The story is not your typical 'billionaire affair' tale, these characters are as real and faulty as the rest of us. They deal with real life issues, and don't throw their money around. Family and inheritance are important to them, and they are willing to go the extra mile to protect them. The chemistry and connection between James and Aubrey was immediate, the attraction obvious and strong. They have so much more in common than just physical attraction, and they work together as a team, to protect the island they both have roots on. They have their personal issues they are working on, and conquering, making them characters I wanted to cheer for. The importance of family, and others around them, made them very likable and charismatic. The events of the story rolls nicely, plot twists and surprises made it a page turner that I read in one sitting. Enjoyable and entertaining story ~ Four Spoons

Aubrey is trying to figure out what to do with her family's land on Indigo Island since her parents died and left her the land, but a lot of debt as well. James Putnam is one of the logging companies making a bid on logging part of the land so she can have money coming in, but not lose the land itself. This was a fun story. It was nice to revisit Indigo Island and get to see some of the other characters again. Aubrey and James obviously have chemistry, but his failure to remember their previous one night stand leaves Aubrey unsure of whether to trust him or not. This was a great story and I really enjoyed reading it. I hope to be able to read more about the other residents of Indigo Island in the future.

Was not sure if I would like this story. It turned out better than I expected. James and Aubrey had a one night stand a year ago. She has never forgotten him, has he forgotten her? Although, that was a major aspect of this story it was not the deciding factor to me. What sold me on this story is that both James and Aubrey are trying to do the right thing to atone for their actions in the past. If they just happen to fall in love in the process, so be it. Enjoyable story, I received an ARC of The Billionaire's Bid by: Kaira Rouda for an honest review. It was worth the read.

The Billionaire's Bid is an engaging romantic novella from "new to me" author Kaira Rouda. This is the fourth book in a series that takes place on Indigo Island and it can be enjoyed as a standalone. I definitely plan on reading books 1-3 and anything else Ms. Rouda has written thus far. This story gives the reader a real appreciation for environmental preservation, with the added benefit of a smoldering love story. Reporter Aubrey Templeton lost her parents in a tragic car accident about a year ago. Not only is her grief all-consuming, she is trying to find a way to pay down the tremendous debt her parent's accumulated. With the walls of desperation slowly closing in, Aubrey hires an unscrupulous forestry consultant and he convinces her to accept bids for logging the opulent and meaningful land her parents bequeathed to her. James Putnam, acting CEO of Putnam Industries, is one of the many bidders in the running. His family owns many acres on the island as well, and the thought of destroying the island's pristine land is harrowing. However, he needs to win the bid in order to solidify his position in his family's company. James is also the man Aubrey slept with the night of her parent's funeral, seeking comfort in a one night stand. Aubrey and James had incredible sex that night, and Aubrey is hopeful that another evening with James will provide her with some much needed closure. Unfortunately, James has no recollection of their night of passion. This is both a hot and sweet love story. Aubrey and James have amazing chemistry and Ms. Rouda evolves their relationship with a unique combination of business ethics, warmth and desire. These two characters transported me to Indigo Island, as I witnessed their relationship unfold in real-time. Aubrey and James are well-defined as well as interesting, and I could not get enough of them. Ms. Rouda beautifully combines excitement, heat, and intense drama into this romantic novella. I immediately connected with Aubrey and James, and there was never a moment that I did not want them to be together both personally and professionally. The secondary characters are important in their own right and add a ton of intrigue to the plot. Overall, a solid read. Complimentary copy provided by the publisher via NetGalley.

I was so excited to read this book, and it did not disappoint me. Love returning to Indigo Island with the Putnam family. This is a quick read, involving James Putnam and Aubrey Templeton. Aubrey is a strong person and knows what she wants, and will not be persuaded in her choices. James and Aubrey had a one night stand a year ago, which James does not remember. James now is trying to do the right thing, not mixing pleasure with business, but can it maintain between him and Aubrey. This is the fourth book in the series, but can be read as a stand alone. Fair warning you will want to catch up with the rest of Putnam family. I received this book from Netgalley for an honest review.

I like how Kaira seamlessly brings environmental issues to the forefront in The Billionaire's Bid, making it a well rounded, interesting romance!   The hero and the heroine are both easy people to like.  Aubrey is much stronger and smarter than she at first came across to me.  She's had a difficult year and is feeling ready to move on from it now.  It was kind of funny how she was so fixated on one night one year ago she had with James...and he can't even remember it!  After her initial hurt and disappointment, I liked how she just let it go and even managed to joke about it.  She really showed true character maturity not only in how she didn't dwell on this and hold it against James, but how she dealt with everything thrown at her over the year and in present time.  I really liked James too.  He has had a year of self discovery and following a more positive path, and his business on Indigo Island will give him a chance to prove a point not only to the board of his family's business, but to himself.  There is tension and the unexpected thrown at him and I liked how he dealt with it.   There is a palpable attraction and chemistry between James and Aubrey and I liked being along for the ride as Aubrey and James got to know each other as they felt out the future.  Kaira really held my interest as I read on to see how things would or would not work out for them and the island community.   Kaira really gives a good small town feel in The Billionaire's Bid, and how they can not only pull together, but pull people apart too.  I liked the quirky, good and bad secondary characters that added zest and a real individual feel to The Billionaire's Bid.   Part of the series (Indigo Island), The Billionaire's Bid can definitely be read as a stand alone.  I'd recommend The Billionaire's Bid to any romance reader looking for a quick, well paced read!

I liked this book. I have read Kaira before. I like this series. Kaira has come up with a different story line. I'm not into business so I got lost a few times in the story. Aubrey was a very strong person to deal with the people she had to work with. She has to leave some of her property to pay off her late parent's debts. She wants to sell her trees and asks for bids. She asked James who she met a year ago to bid and he found out at the last minute someone sabotaged him. Spoilers. James is acting CEO but someone in the the Board wants to be CEO instead while James Dad is fighting cancer. Aubrey has the same problem and it all blows up. Major Spoilers! Do the Chinese get the bid? Does Aubrey forgive James for not remembering her last year? Does James become CEO? You will have to read this book to find out. This is a short read but it sure does pull you in. I hope you choose to read it! I have this book for an honest review for NetGalley.

This was an excellent read. Nothing to heavy and a quick entertaining read. It's very well written, as I would expect from this author, with some very interesting twists and turns. I particularly enjoyed Aubrey's character. Outwardly she seems sweet and quiet but she is a strong woman who will not let anyone sway her opinion. Dealing with the "good ole boy" mentality can be tough and her character handled it beautifully. Really enjoyed it and I would definitely recommend it to everyone.

A quick lighthearted read With the CEO position on the line, James Putnam needs to land a big deal to prove he is the right man for the job. Putnam Industries is the only company that should win the deal of logging the Templeton land. The Putnams have been a part of Indigo Island for a very long time. James would know what is right for the island and its people. Since losing her parents a year ago, Aubrey Templeton has been trying to figure out how to pay the taxes on the land. She refuses to lose the land that has been in her family for generations. When Aubrey hires Dirk Cooley to help with her plans, she has no idea what will happen. She has no idea Dirk is out to sabotage the deal because he doesn’t like the Putnam family. With the land deal on her mind, Aubrey also has a memory of spending the night with James a year ago. She hasn’t forgotten him or the time they were together. She would love to pick up where they left off. Will James have only business on his mind or will he be open to more than just business? I enjoyed this book. It has a good plot and interesting characters with a few unpredictable surprises here and there.
