Overview

All I ever wanted was to be a normal girl. I had dreams of joining the ranks of the Military Police and making my family proud. But the nuclear war that laid waste to our country destroyed any hope I had of being normal ever again. They took everything away from me, including my humanity. I am now half-human, half-machine, part of the never-ending freak show that is the Restoration Project. They hate what they created and they fear us for being powerful. And so they hunt us, destroying our lives so that they can bury what they built. What they don't know is this: there is a Resistance out there and The Bionics aren't going down without a fight.

It is a different world now. After the nuclear war many people had to become part machine just to live. The government helped in these projects to give people a fighting chance. Now the government wants them destroyed and will stop at nothing to do so. Blythe once had dreams of being military police now she is in the middle of saving what the government calls the Bionics. She will do whatever it takes to stop the government. Blythe puts up a very tough exterior. She doesn't like to talk about what led to her having machine parts. She like many others has had a bad past but she above all else wants to help other people survive. She hates the government and along with all this she is confused by her feelings for the new guy Gage.  Gage is from a rich part of the country and very protective of his niece. He really doesn't let you into his head yet. I'm not sure about him yet. Now for the one I love is Dax. He is tough and really cares about Blythe even if he won't show how much. He is the one who tries to save all people with machine parts. I really like this story. You get the feel of what happened as you read and you can see how the government has turned on these people. They are still people but don't get treated that way. Now they have done what I would do as well. Started to fight back and you can't blame them. This is a quick enjoyable read that leaves you wanting more. You like some of the people some I didn't so I won't say all of them. I want to know more about these characters and see what they do and especially Jax.

If you love to read scfy you will love this book. The story is really great. I love the way the people that are diffrent come together to form a family, against the poeple that HATE them becouse they are diffrent. I HATE when people HATE people becouse they are diffrent from everyone else. Everyone has the some color of blood red! I can not wait to read the nexted book. I wont to see what happens next to everyone. Do they find, love, peace, nd even find a home.

The story concept is creative and captivating but I would have liked to know the characters a little more. Some of the language was a little harsh so I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone under the age of 17. I would like to read book two just to see if Dax gets the girl and if they defeat the president.

The author clearly knows how she wants her romance novel to go but is at a total loss about fighting or military actions. The plot and the technical details have more holes in them then a Detroit city street! I could not finish this stupid bit of writing but if you are between the ages of eight and ten, this bit of fantasy might be just right for you. JC

The Bionics, Book 1 - I am a huge dystopian fan so I got this book looking for something a little bit different then the same old zombie flesh  eating type book. All I can say is I was so blown away that I immediately went looking to buy the rest of the books in the series. I have never read a dystopian novel quite like this before. The action is absolutely non stop and the twists and turns make you feel like you are on a roller coaster! You feel connected to the characters because they have endured so much and still they continue to try and seek justice no matter the odds. The first part of the book is written through Blythes eyes who watched her family die because they helped to hide her from the government, when they declared all bionics were abominations that needed to be killed. So to say Blythe is a bit “troubled” is putting it mildly. She vows to never care about anyone ever again. The next part of the book is written through Dax's eyes who has a major thing for Blythe, and is one of the head rescue leaders along with Blythe. I love how the writer continually reveals information all along the way. A struggle for Blythes attention and affections starts when Gage, a non-bionic, shows up at a mission location to bring some trapped bionics to the resistances headquarters where the majority of the bionics are living and hiding from the Government. The action couldn't be any better, but something goes VERY wrong on one of their rescue missions. Then the last part of the book is written through the eyes of Gage and we learn his and Agata’s back story in this one. Gage is Agatas Uncle and Agata is a rather “special” bionic. The book is non-stop action and new up-close and personal interactions with the Rejects, who are further self- modified bionics who have mangled themselves into exactly what the Government is afraid of. They are undermining all of the hard work The Resistance is doing to gain the bionics freedom through the proper negotiating channels, by slaughtering any and all of the Governments enforcement officers and getting their hands on Gage and Blythe. Plus, we learn an absolutely, completely, unimaginable secret Gage has been keeping from everyone, and it is a real game changer! This series is one of my favorite dystopian series of all time! If you like dystopian books with a good mixture of adventure and a bit of romance as well, then I am sure you will LOVE this book as much as I do. The author has a way of making you feel like the characters are your best friends, as we find out more of each of their horrible and sad pasts and how everything that has happened has left them former shells of their old selves. I found myself crying a lot more than once in the book. I just love Alicia Michaels style of writing! She doesn't over do the technical talk so you don't have to skim through the paragraphs trying to find where the story actually begins again. She gives 100% story to her books with no fluff or filler just to add to the number of pages in the book. I don't know how she does it, but Alicia Michaels just keeps getting better and better with each series and each book. As long as she keeps writing them I will keep reading them. I cannot encourage you enough to go out and get this book.

This book is amazing, heart-wrenching and inspiring all at the same time! Set 4000 years in the future, it doesn't seem our government has changed much, create something and then hate it, turn everyone against it with lies, and then try to destroy it. Nuclear bombs are dropped all throughout the U.S.A. and the government is able to save many many lives by adding bionic parts to them to save them. But then like our government does, they turn on the very thing they have created. Now the bionics are fighting for their lives and on the run and in hiding. This beautiful story is one of fighting for what is right and never giving up hope that good and truth will win in the end. Plus an amazing twist of sci fi that left my jaw hanging open and thinking...now wouldn't that be awesome!! But alas, now I am chewing my nails off waiting to see what is going to happen next! Bring on book 2!!!

I cant even begin to tell you how much I LOVED this book! I read it on a whim one day looking for something new to read and saw this was free.  I wasn't sure what to expect having never read a book from this author before. Needless to say I was pleasantly surprised. The story is about Blythe  a young women living in a scifi-futuristic- dystopian world who has a bionic eye and arm due to an unfortunate event. But she's not the only one with bionic body parts. She and her family known as the 'Bionics', all have some kind of bionic appendages that they use to  fight against the government that had at one point help create them. Branding them as dangerous, the government wants to capture all the Bionics and destroy them. But Blythe along with her friends/family Dax, Gage, Yasmine, Sayer, Jenica, The Professor, etc. continue to fight agasint the opposing government/forces to save others like themselves and to earn their freedom/rightful place in this futuristic  dystopian world. This book when i read it was was originally three separate novellas, with Blythe,  Dax and Gage as narrators. Now the first three serials  are combined and rewritten into one full novel!!   Blythe narrates the first part. I love her as a character. She's such a strong, independent woman who is not afraid to fight for her bionic family and for what she believes in which is to have equality among the Bionics and humans. Her bionic eye is awesome as was her bionic arm. Makes me wish I had one! But she as strong as she is she also is very closed off emotionally and doesn't open up to people very well,  mostly due to a traumatic event which I won't talk about you'll just have to read to find out. Also the relationship she has with Gage was  interesting since Gage  isn't like her at all and you'll find out why. And her relationship with Dax was interesting as well but for different reasons than Gage. Overall I thought Blythe was a great character one that I could relate to easily, and loved learning more about her back story in this newly written edition.  In the second half of the book Dax becomes the narrator and I have to say I LOVED reading from Dax's POV. His character was written so well and so realistically. The way he narrated and spoke his mind and acted about certain situations was much like a typical normal guy. I loved how real he seemed. His relationship with Blythe was so sweet yet frustrating at times and you'll find out why and as for his relationship with Gage...well ...let's just say it's rocky. I loved whenever he and Gage interacted, it always made me laugh reading some of the things Dax had to say and the dialogue between the two of them. I look forward to reading more from Dax's POV in the next book. The final part of the novel is narrated by Gage, one of the newest recruits initiated into the Bionics team. When I first read about Gage I wasn't really sure what his deal was. I also didn't really care for him throughout Blythe's and Dax's parts. It wasn't until I read his POV and got to know him better did I realize just how  interesting of a character he was. Gage is a very layered  character who comes from a very interesting background one that I was surprised to find out about.  He also has a few secrets that he hasn't shared with everyone, including Blythe. What are they you ask? Well you'll just have to read the book to find out! ;) Overall the book was fantastic! It does end on a cliffhanger but book 2 is already out so no problems there. I highly suggest picking it up to see what happens  next!  This book had me pulled in form the get go. I loved learning about the Bionics and how they came to be in the scifi-futuristic-dystopian world. The  characters, Blythe Dax and Gage were all so well written, interesting and very memorable, I just can't get enough of them and wish I could live in their world . I've honestly re-read this book 4 or 5 times since I've bought it and just had to buy the paperback. I highly recommend this book to anybody especially to scif fans, dystopian fans and also to anybody who was a fan of the tv show Dark Angel(which I LOVED and this book kind of reminds me of it in a good way :)). I've already read the second book and am going to buy it in paperback as well. As i said highly recommend this book I couldn't put it down so go out and read it you won't regret it!!!! :D

Having just finished reading book 1 of the "Bionics" series 'The Bionics' I am HOOKED!! It had been a while since I'd last read a dystopian/sci-fi book, but once I started I was literally sitting on the edge of my seat till the end. I was engrossed from the first sentence! Set in the years after the necluer war in 4006, people turned to robotics or Bionics to help all the injured left. The Govenment in charge at first likes the idea, but soon they change there minds & start the hunt of all Bionic/humans. I loved the plot of this story, half human/half robotic resistance coming together to help others like themselves to escape the tyranny of the Govenment, who made them how they are in the first place. The POV changes through out the book are marked clearly, which helps when you start reading a new POV, otherwise things would be confussing. We get POV's from Blythe, Dax & Gage.... I need more, I found the whole idea behind this book not only intriging but unique. Bring on book 2, reader for life!

I seriosly object to a novel entitled book one when it is really a 68 page introduction to a new series. Because of this I will probally not read any other books by this author.
