    Great CD

The Birds the Bees and the Monkees is great. It has some of the best songs such as I'll be Back up on my Feet, Day Dream Beliver, Valleri, P.O. Box 9847, I'm Gonna Try and The Girl I Left Behind Me. Alvin is great and funny too.

Nostalgic '60s for a rainy day.

From the opening song you will immediately detect something's amiss with this album: every Monkees album before this started with a fast, catchy song, but this starts with a sweet Davy song. In fact, the album is structured almost entirely by the pattern: sweet Davy song, eerie song by other band member, sweet Davy song, eerie song by other band member, sweet Davy song... That's not to say it's a bad album. 'Valleri' is one of the best-sounding commercial pop songs ever written, in my opinion, and I'd buy the album for that song alone. It also contains the (sweet Davy song) hit 'Daydream Believer' ('It's cause I'm short, I know...'), and some cool-sounding (eerie) pieces like 'Writing Wrongs' and 'Zor and Zam.' For a listening album as a whole, it's good for when you're in a nostalgic '60s mood on a rainy day, a mood reinforced by the album cover. One bonus track, 'Lady's Baby,' makes a lot more sense and is more humorous in this alternate version, I think: in the Missing Links version it is too easy to ignore it and assume that 'baby' is slang for a girl, rather than a real baby.
