This low-budget horror flick about a band of college students out to document some strange goings-on in the woods has been the surprise indie hit of the year. In keeping with the movie's faux-documentary style, its soundtrack purports to be a "mix tape" found in the car stereo of one of the ill-fated filmmakers. The CD is a dark, twisting aural trip through the same horrific terrain the movie explores. Lydia Lunch's gravel-voiced requiem, "Gloomy Sunday," is a real gem, while PiL's repetitive, beat-driven "The Order of Death" evokes inescapable nightmare grooves.
