Overview

Praised by Andre Norton, among others, as an "excellent combination of science fiction and fantasy," The Blessing Papers concerns a post-apocalyptic future set in a fictitious Ireland (Imram), in which the ability to read and write has almost been lost and strange images and religions reign. The action and adventure of the three novels dramatizes through many twists and turns the rediscovery through the Blessing family of an almost forgotten past as portrayed in the final recovery of the hidden Blessing Papers themselves.

About the Author

William Barnwell is the author of eight novels. He was born in Macon, Georgia, spent two years in Oregon, and grew up in North Alabama on the Tennessee River. His first novel, The Blessing Papers, appeared in England in 1980. Simon & Schuster bought the paperback rights of The Blessing Papers and contracted Barnwell for three more in a science-fantasy series that was well received. His fifth novel, The Scheme-of-the-Month Club, was reviewed as being a “comic romp” in South Carolina doing with his characters what Carl Hiaasen does in Florida with his.  His sixth novel, Death of the Camel’s Child, is an international thriller involving an idiot savant of killing who believes he is the true son of Lawrence of Arabia. The Dungeon Beneath Bling-Bling High is a YA novel about an inner-city high school trying to escape itself.  I, Lord Several is the first of a SF novel being published the way Charles Dickens did his: a portion at a time. Barnwell is a member of the Authors Guild and the International Thriller Writers group (ITW). He is currently working on his ninth novel, a PI thriller, police procedural, and courtroom drama, currently entitled, Death at the Fall Line. An excerpt from that novel and several of the others is posted at his website williambarnwell.net
