Though the Greek and Roman crewmembers of the Argo II have made progress in their many quests, they still seem no closer to defeating the earth mother, Gaea. Her giants have risen-all of them-and they're stronger than ever. They must be stopped before the Feast of Spes, when Gaea plans to have two demigods sacrificed in Athens. She needs their blood-the blood of Olympus-in order to wake.

The demigods are having more frequent visions of a terrible battle at Camp Half-Blood. The Roman legion from Camp Jupiter, led by Octavian, is almost within striking distance. Though it is tempting to take the Athena Parthenos to Athens to use as a secret weapon, the friends know that the huge statue belongs back on Long Island, where it might be able to stop a war between the two camps.

The Athena Parthenos will go west; the Argo II will go east. The gods, still suffering from multiple personality disorder, are useless. How can a handful of young demigods hope to persevere against Gaea's army of powerful giants? As dangerous as it is to head to Athens, they have no other option. They have sacrificed too much already. And if Gaea wakes, it is game over.

Our B&N Exclusive Edition includes a Gods vs. Giants Battle Panorama!

I devoured the book " the house of hades" in two days and I'm really guilty about that because I have to wait a whole year before I can read the next one. Hurry up!
Anonymous More than 1 year ago
I know we've all got forever to wait for this, but we have to kind of be thankful. I mean, HOH didn't have nearly as much of a cliffhanger ending than MOA did. (I remember that...) And would be kind of useless if you killed yourself waiting for a book to come out. Then, believe it or not, you would never get to actually read the book. Yeah. But anyway, point is, I can't wait (and everyday we're one day closer!!!!!)

Need it to come out im already dying inside!!! I loved all the others. Ive read them all a lot of times

Omg I want to know what happens sooooo bad!!!! I can't wait for the ending. Its going to be EPIC! :) I hope everyone lives because if any of the seven die I will be really mad at Mr. Riordan!! I also can't wait 2 see the cover art because it is always super awesome (my favorite is the cover on The Mark of Athena) ;)This series have been my favorites since I was nine and now I'm thirteen. At the same time, I am trying to tell myself to relish the bliss of not knowing, cuz when I finish it I will probably cry :( (that is a big deal for me because I have never cried once in any book or movie). I read The House of Hades in 2 days and I was trying to go slow, but I couldn't stop myself at the end! ;) If you haven't read these two series, stop wasting your time reading reviews and go buy The Lightning Thief. It is the best 10 bucks u will ever spend!!! ;) I know you will love these books as much as I do!! :) :) -maura

First of all, let me just say, it is incredibly hard to write this review for two reasons. One, the synopsis on goodreads and the synopsis on the actual book jacket are different. Two, I'm having a hard time determining what's a spoiler and what isn't. Before I say anything more though I have one vital piece of advice for everyone before they read this book. Do not flip to the back of the book. I wanted to see at which point the book really ended because there's a glossary after everything is said and done. Do not do this. You won't realize it at the time, but basically seeing a single word is a spoiler. All right, I do feel safe in saying that I was incredibly happy with the POV choices for the series' conclusion. I loved that Riordan returned to a more focused highlight on Leo, Piper, and Jason, much like how the series began. However, I will say that there are 5 POVs and every single person will be incredibly happy with the other two choices. I felt like everyone's story was balanced very well. Hands down, one of my favorite parts was the fact that Percy and Annabeth didn't dominate like they did in the previous book. Don't worry, my friends, there's still some Percabeth action. The House of Hades fully developed Frank and Hazel and, now with The Blood of Olympus, we see Riordan finishing the character development for the rest of the crew as well as some of their trusty friends, whom I will not name. The pacing was wonderful. I didn't dread a single POV change because the story attached to each one was incredibly entertaining. I do think that it's definitely worth mentioning that Octavian gets his just deserts. Seriously, no one could have asked for a better ending for the traitorous scum bag. In short, The Blood of Olympus is basically the best book in the series and you're all going to flippin' love it.

I have been reading prrcy jackson since second grade. I have followed the seires since the beginning. It is my favorite seires of ALL TIME! It is ny childhiid, my history. I had a bithday party themed percy jackson and the heroes of olympus. And it is amazing how i can enjoy this as a seventh grader. Its like the series is growing up with me. I madea camp half blood poster that hangs in my room to this day. I have a real camp half blood tshirt that i still where. All the jokes, from hover DAM to Team Leo, have helped me live my everyday life. From the lightning theif to the blood of olympus, i have enjoyed every minite of the journy. Thank you rick riordian. You are a insperation.

To all those who are wondering-- this is indeed the end of the Percy Jackson series, but Riordan is considering doing some sort of cross-over series with the Kane Chronicles after he has finished the Norse books. On to the story, I did not feel a real sence of urgency binding me to it like Riordan always tries to accomplsh. There was still a deadline, of course, but it seemed less important. At other places I did not understand what was happening. Something would just suddenly occur, and I would have to reread to understand it. I suppose this wasn't "bad," but I missed Percy, Hazel, and Frank's point of view, especially seeing as this is the last (known) Percy Jackson book. The last of my complaints is that the story seemed a bit demeaning to the Greeks ((((SPOILER: When Percy says, "Greeks! Let's, uh, fight stuff!")))) The Greeks themselves seemed to be taking things too lightly, more lightly than they ever did with the Great Prophecy. As usual, there was a good dose of Riordan humor, mostly in the form of Leo. The giants had less of a sence of humor, which felt appropriete. There were some...unexpected things that happened, and that was a nice change from the usual routine: have impossible goals, fight monsters, rush to complete those goals against all odds, fight monsters, have one huge final battle, meet the goals, have a brief period of peace, fight monsters. Along with all this was Riodan's uncluttered style and good taste. He resolved just enough of the character's problems for the book to be satisfying, but left plenty up to us to imagine what could happen. This book is a satisfying conclusion to the Percy Jackson series and is certainly recommended for all fans of Rick Riordan.

This was an amazing book! Im so sad that its ended because the percy jackson/heroes of olympus series is probably my favorite book series of all time. Though i love harry potter, rick has pored his heart and soul into the world they live in and how it works. To create a reality thats inside our current one is a very hard and complex job. My only wish it he would come out with a next generation series with percabeth and piper/jason and hazel/frank with children living at chb and cj and the plot twist is leo returns with calypso and they havent aged one day since the final battle. That would be amazing. Ive made up names for their kids so jason and piper have summer and caleb. Percabeth has grace and the twins devin and genevieve. Hazel and frank have henry and sammy. So yah. Rick riordan is my favorite author ever with a mix of humor adventure and mythology. PS i finished the book on wed morning about 24 hrs after i got it but i had school and softball and sleeping so i probably could have read it in 1.5 hrs if i tried. Quesrios? Ask the trekkie. Live long and prosper.

Last book house of hades was so mystierous. Im so confused now i want to know these things: is this the LAST book? Will Percy die? Will Hazle die? Will Frank die? Will Anabeth die (gods forbid). Will Leo die? Will he save and date Clypso? No one of the 7 had better die! Also, what happend to Thallia? Is she coming back now? Are Percy and Anabeth going to move to the protected city in rome and get married? I WANNA KNOW!

Even though i enjoyed it is wasnt as good as the others. It never even had percy or annabeths perspective! But i liked the ending.

I hope there is a 6th book or atleast a short story about what happens to Leo and Calypso and if they get back to camp half-blood. (Or mabey a new series that includes all of the different series by Rick) (P.S. if you don't know the other series they are the Kane Chronicles and Percy Jackson.) :)

Rick promises no more cliff hangers and gives us the biggest cliff hanger of the whole entire series. I really hope that the Magnus Chase series continues with all of the characters in this series, especially Leo.
