    Not what I was expecting

I bought this book to give me some direction in the weight room as a distance-running health-food-eating woman who just never learned what to do in the gym and would like some upper body tone. While this book did include many great free-weight examples, I didn't get the direction I wanted, I felt it was more of a picture book for you to choose what to do from. What I did get in this book was multiple chapters on how 'anyone can change their shape' and 'how to get into a fitness routine' (not anything I needed to be coached on) as well as chapters devoted to how to eat, what to eat, when to eat, etc. (which I also was not looking for) While I still enjoyed their nutritional opinion, I found it extremely strict, especially for a book that ended up targeting people who don't already lead an active lifestyle. (almost all fat allowances were in the form of flax seed oil. Now, I do love flax but as an addition to my regular food, not as a substitution) It also got a little preachy with the routine instead of offering options.

    Super workout!

I was looking for a simple workout, one that told me reps, sets, rests, etc. This book is simple and great start into weight training. I have really slacked off running after having my daughter, so I wanted to ease back into exercising. This book is it! It's easy to understand, and there is enough variation with the exercises that you won't get bored, but you won't feel overwhelmed. I am still in my 21day challenge, but this kind of workout is one that you could easily mesh with running or swimming or whatever cardio you like to do. It also won't make you bulky, just work on getting tone (especially those triceps ladies:-).
