About the Author

André Goethals has always been captivated by the power of symbolic language, embracing idioms, metaphors, and folk sayings. One of his earliest memories is of himself nestled in a small storeroom at his grandmother's home, engrossed in a book filled with black-and-white cartoons featuring animals that spoke, dressed, and behaved like people. Growing up, he was exposed to a wealth of unique idioms, thanks to his grandmother who hailed from a remote part of the country and frequently shared these linguistic treasures with him. This early exposure sparked a lifelong love for symbolic language and creative wordplay.
To preserve these verbal treasure and adding some of his own, André decided to document them in a formal medium. 
André currently resides on the outskirts of Cape Town with his wife and their daughter. 
He has a vast range of experience having been employed in such varying positions from building swimming pools, selling insurance and being an auditor.
He currently keeps the hyenas from the door by being a freelancer.
He writes daily, enjoys hiking, photography and painting. He also indulges in binge watching Korean drama series.
