Children's Literature - Traci Avalos
This book is a compilation of the words, music, and actions that combine to make over fifty "circle games" (musical games played by a group in a circle) for young children. Each page has the sheet music and lyrics needed to play, as well as a description of the actions that go along with the song and/or game. The book is categorized by three general types of circles (stationary, stationary becomes traveling, and traveling) although a few other types of community games are provided as well. Multiculturalism is emphasized through occasional songs from other countries given in the original language (including Spanish, Italian, and French), and a general translation is provided. There will need to be a group of children to complete most of the games, and many work better with larger groups. This is a phenomenal resource for most classroom, day care, baby-sitting, or any scenario with groups of children, and will help teach children the joy of music and community at a young age.
