Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
Yellow, humanoid figures with lemon-shaped heads play hosts in this wide-ranging guide to dinosaurs, part of the Questions series (The Book of Which, The Book of Where), which uses a question and answer format to address a variety of dinosaur-themed topics. The 50 questions in this offering range from general (“Why aren’t there any dinosaurs at the zoo?”) to particular: “Which dinos honked through their heads?” (Answer: hadrosaurs used their hollow head crests “like a musical instrument to make honking noises.”) The brightly colored illustrations have a flat and somewhat generic cartoon aesthetic, but the book yields a generous amount of information. Ages 5–8. (Nov.)

Fifty questions that children might ask about dinosaurs are presented with answers. The table of contents lists all the inquiries for this question and answer book. The questions cover areas like physical features, names, or diet. Each question is in bold print on the page and the answer is on the same page. The names of the dinosaurs are followed with a pronunciation guide. With each dinosaur question, there is an inset titled, "Did You Know..." which has additional information on these prehistoric creatures. Throughout the book, colorful cartoon-like characters and dinosaurs are in the illustrations. Readers will find a dinosaur quiz at the back of the book based on the content of the book. The quiz has twenty-five questions with answers provided on pages that follow the test. In addition, there is a glossary of terms. Children who are interested in particular information may find the index helpful. This book is part of a series, "The Book of...50 Questions and All the Answers." Reviewer: Carrie Hane Hung
