A mine of information and informed comment. Block is well-read and provides a reading of the text which will satisfy many Bible readers.
IZBG: Issues in Law & Medicine
This is the first volume of what is currently the most convincing historical and critical interpretation of the book of Ezekiel. Block interacts with international scholarship but is not easily impressed with contemporary fads of interpretation. Block is to be congratulated on his achievement.
Religious Studies Review
"Block's aim is to make the book of Ezekiel "understandable and meaningful for contemporary readers" by considering questions "students of Scripture" would ask (text critical, cultural and literary, hermeneutical and theological, and application). Block's style of exposition is clear and accessible; all major propositions are enumerated. His judicious use of comparative ancient Near Eastern material is commendable. Readers lacking a knowledge of Hebrew will also use this book with profit. Recommended for all libraries."
