Overview

Excerpt:

And at these words, the austere Dominican, without listening to the cries of the dying man, left the room as he had entered it, with face and step unaltered; far above human things he seemed to soar, a spirit already detached from the earth.

At the cry which broke from Lorenzo dei Medici when he saw him disappear, Ermolao, Poliziano, and Pico delta Mirandola, who had heard all, returned into the room, and found their friend convulsively clutching in his arms a magnificent crucifix which he had just taken dawn from the bed-head. In vain did they try to reassure him with friendly words. Lorenzo the Magnificent only replied with sobs; and one hour after the scene which we have just related, his lips clinging to the feet of the Christ, he breathed his last in the arms of these three men, of whom the most fortunate-- though all three were young--was not destined to survive him more than two years. "Since his death was to bring about many calamities," says Niccolo Macchiavelli, "it was the...

    Interesting read

I liked the book, my only issue is either the translation or ebook version needed some heavy editing. The same word, used in various places in the book was spelled two different ways, God and Gad both appear in the text.

    The Borgias

Disgustingly full of typos. Overly descriptive. Not a very enjoyable reading experience.

No, the borders are still weak because the Fleece is still gone and Thalia's Pine is dying. No one screwed up.

    a voice

A cold, chilling voice laughed, seeming to come from everywhere, from Thalia's dying pine to the Big House to the training arena. "You still expect to survive? Ha! Your naivety is amusing. Your camp will be annihilated. My monsters approach as I speak."
An image suddenly flashed in the sky above camp, impossible to miss. A girl with long black hair wearing a blue baseball cap and a tattered orange shirt descended stairs into ruins and was suddenly smacked aside into a wall. The image changed, showing another beautiful girl sinking to the bottom of an ocean, her brown tresses floating wildly and blood flowing from her side as she landed on the sea floor... and passed right through it. Another girl with wavy brown and blue hair hung from a tree in a net, clawing at the ropes.
The images disappeared with a cruel laugh. "Your chosen ones will fail," the voice chuckled. "Your camp is doomed."
