Overview

Series creator Neil Jordan and Showtime were wise to snag Tudors' composer Trevor Morris for their historical fiction series The Borgias. Like The Tudors, The Borgias was set amidst a backdrop of political, religious, and sexual intrigue in the 15th century. Morris once again displays a deft hand at blending period music with the orchestral, electronic flourishes of the 21st century. Comprised of mostly incidental music (of the 38 tracks, only four break the three-minute mark), the soundtrack for The Borgias' first season makes for a surprisingly cohesive listen, due in part to the composer's smooth transitions and gift for melodic melodrama. A spoiler alert for potential Borgias viewers, don't read the track listings, unless you want to know if "Cesare and Ursula Make Love," "Juan and Sancia Have Sex," or "Rovere Finds a Body in His Bed."
