In 2010, Legacy released The Music of Gladys Knight & the Pips, a three-disc, 45-track anthology that covered most of the group's essential songs for Motown, Columbia, Buddah, and MCA. A few years later, Legacy reissued the set as The Box Set Series and, for whatever reason, chose to spread the selections across four discs. This is a bit much for casual listeners who would be fine with a single or double-disc anthology, but the depth here is pretty remarkable. Among the group's biggest hits and most notable songs: "I Heard It Through the Grapevine," "Midnight Train to Georgia," "The Makings of You," and "Taste of Bitter Love." Unfortunately, "Neither One of Us (Wants to Be the First to Say Goodbye)," among six other songs, is present as part of a live medley.
