Great for the NookColor in the Classroom! Only 99 cents!
We use The Boy Who Cried Ug! with the NookColor in the classroom and media center. I read the story to the students. They loved the story, especially the illustrations. The students then read the book the next day. They won't put it down. It's addictive! There are many skills I can pull in with this book: story elements, compare and contrast, writing, sight words, read aloud, dinosaurs, fossils, etc. Great for beginning readers!

I love teaching with this book!
I use this story in my classroom for teaching story elements, compare and contrast, cause and effect, reading with expression, inferring...the list goes on and on! Jeremy's illustrations are hilarious and the story is a truly imaginative spin on a classic. My students always fall in love with Ug! They can relate to him and learn from his mistakes.
Thanks Jeremy Cole for a great story!

Amazing Book!!!!!
I am a 3rd grade teacher and I use this book in many different ways. I use it for cause and effect, and I compare and contrast it with "The Boy Who Cried Wolf" The author did a great job making an old favorite new and exciting. My son runs around the house saying UGGGGG!!!!! I am hoping that there will be more books by this author. The artwork is amazing as well. I can't believe there were bad ratings for this book. I guess you can't please every reader.

Meet the Author

Author and illustrator Jeremy Cole knows the struggle children have today with reading, as he himself struggled as a child with reading. Born in an army military hospital in Landstruhl, Germany, Cole grew up in Circleville, Ohio. He attended the University of Rio Grande in Rio Grande, Ohio. There he earned a Bachelor in Elementary Education with a concentration in Middle School Mathematics. He also holds a MA in Educational Leadership and a Specialist Degree in Administration Supervision. Cole began his 19 years of teaching in Baltimore, Maryland and has currently taught for the last 16 years in Paulding County, Georgia. “Teaching elementary students keeps me young. You have to be up on the latest technology and current trends,” said Cole.
Cole enjoys spending time with his wife and three children. They often times seem to be his inspiration for his next idea, character or story line. They are very proud of his accomplishments.
In third grade, Cole thought he’d be a chef, a forest ranger or a race car driver. As time went on, Cole discovered he had a natural talent to draw along with his ability to tell a story and thus Jeremy Cole Books was born. Throughout his life, he has admired his Scoutmaster James Heacock from Troop 52 in Circleville, Ohio. “Through his guidance he helped shape me into who I am today. He helped me realize the potential I had to teach and teaching led me to writing children’s books,” said Cole. Cole first created Ug in 2002 and published it in 2005. By January 2011, The Boy Who Cried Ug was published as an e-book. In the first three months on the market, he sold over 7,000 e-book copies. Cole hopes his readers will read his books over and over. He hopes they are inspired to use their own creativity to write their own stories too.
Cole plans to continue to publish more exciting adventurous books for children. He has created an on-line community in which kids can watch interactive videos, download activities and play games at www.jeremycolebooks.com. He also plans to develop teaching resources that meet the demands left in gaps of today’s teaching resources.

    Not formatted for nook

We cant even read the story because the "deluxe" edition shows up horribly on the nook color. Dont purchase this version. The text is so small you cant read it, and the pages take up only a small portion of the screen. No pinch and zoom, unless you select each picture individually.

Great for Students! - Compare and Contrast

My third graders love this book! I use it to introduce comparing and contrasting of story elements. Since it is an "easy read" the students don't get "hung up" on the reading and focus on the skill. They immediately connect with the book because it is similar to the boy who cried wolf, but different in many ways. It is always a great way to start my compare and contrast unit. I would highly recommend this book to students who are in third grade and below. The illustrations are wonderful and the kids just love the story. I also met Jeremy at a book signing and he gave me a great deal on some copies of his book for the classroom. I like this e-book version because it connects you to his website and has other "kid friendly" features.

    My Kids Are "UG" Fans!

My kids are "UG" fans after reading the first e-book version of Jeremy's The Boy Who Cried Ug! They were excited when we visited with him at a book signing. This deluxe edition is great! It is identical to his paperback version. Not only do they have the story in front of them, but they also get to visit his website, listen to him read, and more. When they saw Jeremy at the booksigning they loved drawing Ug with him. Now they can do it online. His book reinforces honesty, has a twist ending, and wonderful illustrations. I would highly recommend this to other parents. We are "Ug" fans and can't wait to see what he comes up with next.

Definite on My LendMe List! Only $0.99!

The illustrations were great, but the best thing about this book was the fact that my kid who doesn't like to read didn't want to put it down. He already has the paperback version, but now with the e-book version he gets to follow along with his paperback version as Jeremy reads with him. The illustrations are wonderful and the story is a new take on the boy who cried wolf. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who has kids. My son is excited that there is going to be a sequel!
