Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Jody Little
This how-to guide includes over sixty articles about varying topics. Sports enthusiasts will appreciate articles about "How to Perform the Perfect Round-off," or "How to Block a Penalty Kick." Science enthusiasts will appreciate articles such as "How to Be a Rocket Scientist," or "Power a Light with a Lemon." Kids wanting to impress their friends might like "How to Be a Ventriloquist" or "How to Tell a Good Joke." The writing is often dry and facts are pretty basic, but occasionally the author includes some interesting tidbits, such as why you do not drink salt water if you are stranded at sea, or why you preserve your knocked-out tooth in milk rather than water. Even though the book is aimed at boys, girls might find some of the articles interesting. Kids might also like some of the sillier topics including "How to Escape from an Angry Bull" or "How to Ride a Camel." The best use of this book may be for classroom teachers helping students write their own ‘how-to' papers. Reviewer: Jody Little

    Great book for boys!

Entertaining and fun to read. My grandson checked the book out from the library. He read it and wanted his own copy for Christmas. He has reread it already!
