This powerful series tracks a CIA-backed group monitoring superheroes who have taken liberties with their powers, becoming a danger to the public. Known for his iconoclastic and hyperviolent takes on archetypes, Ennis expertly invokes the decline of faith in superheroes. (Multivolume, completed series.)

Garth Ennis' series Preacher should go down as a comic classic along with Sandman and Transmetropolitan. This is not Preacher. The Boys is entertaining, amusing, and very very adult, but it's missing the depth of some of his earlier works. If you enjoyed Garths one shot The Pro, you'll definitely enjoy this, but it also feels a little repetitive, especially if you have been following him as a writer. Angry deadly midgets? Check. Abusive authority figures? Check. Bad guys with extreme quirks? Check. Boobs? Check.
