The Break Up Guide Can Help

Excuse: “Well He is just under a lot of stress in his life.” The first thing that should be looked at is that there is never a good excuse for a person treating you badly. While often they will try making you out to be the reason the abuse is occurring, the real truth of the matter, is that the abuser is the one that in the end is responsible for their bad behavior. The person that is being abused has to have the guts to stand up and stop making excuses for the other persons behavior. The line of “Well he is just stressed at work” is not a reason to abuse the person that they claim that they love. The first step is that you have to take the power back and realize that his excuses are not reasons to justify his abuse. Ask yourself this question what advice would you tell your friend if they were in the same situation? Chances are that you would tell them to get out of the bad relationship, now take your own advice.

There were moments when I wanted to shake someone for some of the stupid choices i've made, but this too is part of an authentic abuse cycle; many times, victims of abuse can’t see what’s best for them because they live in fear of reprisal and are in to deep. I’ve really enjoyed reading this book because it stands for something and doesn’t sugar-coat domestic violence; I read it cover to cover in one day!
I very highly recommend this book!!

This book is a very thorough manual for moving forward. Every issue is covered and broken down on a subatomic level to set up a good foundation for understanding: PTSD, Guilt, Anger, Grief and Loss (tangible/symbolic). Every chapter has some kind of exercise to gauge your current status and also your progress. Each chapter builds on the previous one in an orderly fashion like steps in a staircase.

There is so much information in the book that I fear talking about it will give it away
