Overview

Demi Shepherd breaks hearts for a living—and she learned long ago that love just isn’t worth the pain. But when one of her clients ends up dead, Demi is going to have to put her heart on the line to save her own life.

A professional breakup artist, Demi is hired to end other people’s romances. When one of her clients is murdered—with Demi’s fingerprints on the murder weapon—her only hope for clearing her name and finding out who framed her is Jack Austin, a world-weary hunk who’d just as soon let her rot in jail.

Jack is a hard-bitten undercover agent, driven to expose and bring down a money-laundering organization, and he’s not willing to risk his life or career for Demi. Until Demi proves she’s innocent of the crime—but far from innocent in the bedroom.

With cops and killers on their trail and a smoldering romance ready to ignite, Jack and Demi have to fight together to save their lives, as well as their damaged hearts.

This is a short fast pace story about a women who is hired to break up for others who want out of a relationship. Charles hires Demi to break up with his girlfriend, which she does. What a scene that was with hair, hands and fist flying. Later when Demi returns to her room she finds a man, along with a dead man Charles who hired her. She is taken in to custody and booked, the other sexy man (Jack) who was in the hotel room turns up as her lawyer who breaks her out of jail. Then the fun begins, she must help Jack find out who just killed Charles or return to jail before she herself is killed.

This book has a plot for a wonderful story with wonderful characters. For a short read it really ways a great read. I would have liked the story to have a little more build up, learn a little more about each character. The author packs a lot into an hour read but so much is left out.

There is passion, a wonderful sex scene which is hot and fast. A little too fast for me but it was a good read and so much better than most short stories. It would have been nice to learn more about the crime, and the bad guys. I am giving this a 4 star due to it being way to short, the author did a wonderful job with writing and plot, along with a little history about Jack and Demi. If this had been a full novel it would have been an outstanding read. This does give you a taste of what the author can do and for a taste it is worth a 5 Star. I am splitting it and giving this book a 4.5 star however I do look forward to reading more from this author I do see that she has a full novel out and look forward to reading it.

If you are looking for a short outstanding read that will get your blood pumping and keep you hanging on to see the outcome, with passion which is a fast pace read, this is the book for you. It was worth the read so I recommend it highly.

Nichole Severn is one of the few romance authors I read or shall I say, indulge with, because I am super picky when it comes to the romance genre. She always has a great plot, sexy characters and sets a pace that leaves the readers wanting more. The Break-Up Artist was no different from my expectations and did not leave me disappointed.

While trying to uncover the truth of a framed murder, it gets steamy between Jack and Demi. I think most women would agree, a man who knows how to please a woman and handle a gun is simply sexy. The Break-Up Artist is not too heavy in romance or buried with clue findings and is full of action from beginning to end, which makes this an easy read for those exploring outside their usual comfort genre. I read it all in one sitting because it was so good!

With that being said, it was no surprise The Break-Up Artist has now made ranks to my favorites from her collections! I would definitely recommend this book to anyone. A shout-out to Nichole--I loved it and cannot wait to read your next book, Mortal Eclipse!
