Overview

At a posh Victorian home in San Francisco's exclusive Pacific Heights, Kelly Myers attends a political fundraiser and meets the powerful executive Larry Townsend. The two of them begin to date; and later, they fall in love and make plans for their wedding and a honeymoon in Acapulco.
The wedding ceremony is dream-like perfection. For Larry, however, trouble intrudes in the form of an uninvited wedding guest who, he's certain, has been stalking him. During the reception Larry confides to his attorney that he's been the victim of harassment and intimidation in a plot to derail his efforts to break away from a business venture that is outside the law.
He soon realizes he is a marked man. On their honeymoon Larry goes scuba diving alone and does not return. A search locates Larry's boat and equipment and he is presumed drowned.
Kelly gradually learns of the dark side emerging from Larry's past. She learns of his participation in an illegal enterprise and that he faked his death and is alive. Kelly now questions her husband's integrity and character.
Although Kelly hasn't stopped loving Larry, their situation cannot be resolved simply. Through a series of deceptions, death, and betrayal, they learn about lust and greed in the underworld, and soon realize they must join together in a powerful fight to stay alive and keep their love intact.

Meet the Author

A native Californian, Jackie Ullerich was born in Los Angeles, grew up in San Diego and attended UCLA, where she graduated with honors, earning a secondary teaching credential in theater arts and English. She also attained Master Teacher status, which qualified her to train and supervise student teachers at the high school level.
In a major change of venue, Jackie left the classroom for the world stage to travel and live in a variety of places, both in the U.S. and overseas, with her Air Force husband.
Her years of living in Turkey and Greece coincided with changes in government, including tanks in the streets. But hostile environments were offset by exploration of ancient cultures and the colorful tapestries of contemporary life.
Of her many experiences, teaching English as a foreign language at the Turkish War College in Ankara, was an adventure in itself. While her novels reflect first-hand knowledge of exotic and historic locals, California provides a backdrop for most of her writing.
Presently, Jackie and her retired Air Force JAG husband reside in Palm Desert, California where her husband golfs while Jackie writes.

    Re:Volted Chapter 7 --Speck

Saro groaned. He remembered falling into that black hole, and nothing else. Where was he now? Should he open his eyes? And what was it that brought him back to conciousness?? It was something wet and sloppy...<p>Before Saro knew what hit him, whatever was standing in front of him licked him again. "Euuugh!!! Geroff me!!!" Saro said laughing. He opened his eyes, and saw before him a yellowish-orange dog. It had two funny black ears, round eyes, and it was hanging it's tounge out of it's mouth in pure ectasy. It also had a green collar, with a shiny gold nametag on it that read "Pluto".<p>Saro got up unsteadily and looked around him. The starry night sky shone above, but that was just about it for normal nature. Everywhere else was taken up by grey roads and brown brick buildings. Many smokestacks were spouting whisps of grey smoke into the crisp, chill midnight air. Above everything towered a huge clock tower, proclaiming the time to all of the city.<p>"Where am I?" He asked no-one in particular. Pluto--for that was obviously the dog's name-- simply tilted his head to one side and looked confused. Saro was in a dark alley and could see nothing behind him.<p>"Well! Pluto!! What are you doing in London??"<p>Saro jumped nearly a mile into the air. A tinny voice near his ear had just spoken up!!! From out of his ear jumped what seemed to be a small speck. "W-what the heck was thaaat??" He said, looking around in fear.<p>The speck, which had jumped from his ear to the dog's back, replied. "My apologies. I'm Jiminny Cricket." Saro saw that the voice had originated from the speck on the dog's back, and oupon closer inspection, Saro got a good look at Jiminny Cricket. He was indeed a cricket, but a very finely dressed one. He had a black tuxedo, a miniscule top hat on his head, and he carried a fancy umbrella--all of these were his size exactly.<p>"Well, um. Nice to meet you, Jiminny!!" Saro said happily (he couldn't shake hands with something so small, so a simple hreeting would do nicely/ "I'm Saro!" The cricket replied. "Yes indeed! Nice to meet you Saro!!" Pluto wagged his tail furiously.<p>((It's Gargamel!! Sorry this chapter was a little short... I promise the next one will be bigger. P. S. For all you diehard Disney fans out there, I decided to use London, as it is the site of not one, but two disney movies: 101 Dalmatians and The Great Mouse Caper. And yes, I do plan on using Cruella DeVill as a bad guy!!! --Gargamel))
