This latest fun fare from Shirley Jump made me laugh out loud! And what a wonderful and rare gift laughter is for a reader. Our heroine wants to control her life (who doesn't?) and discovers it's easier said than done. The hero is sexy and funny. There is an eclectic group of friends and secondary characters, including a motor-cycling grandmother. And to top it all off: mouthwatering recipes for any and all things chocolate. I had a wonderful time reading The Bride Wore Chocolate. You will, too!

The story was funny and entertaining. However, the lack of proper punctuation and the typos were horrendous. Throughout the whole book, instead of 'than' the book said 'man'; for 'breath' it said 'bream'; for 'the' it said 'die'; for 'that' it said 'mat'; for 'I' it said '1'...the list goes on and on. Come on people, do your homework.

At first glance, THE BRIDE WORE CHOCOLATE is another 'bride-to-be falls for her one true love-and it's not the groom' story. If you come to that conclusion from reading the back blurb of the book, you'd be correct. But-and it's a huge but-this story is that and so much more. And it's the so much more that makes this book well worth reading. Candace Woodrow is a lot of things. Restless, a little nervous about getting married to the man who is definitely Mr. Right, surrounded by in-laws that make the Osbourne's look like a tame addition to the local petting zoo. Most of all, she's living her dream by owning and running her own business, Gift Baskets to Die For. 'Candy' Woodrow, however, is having one heck of a time resisting Michael Vogler-and the sinfully delicious creations that she makes for her business. Her chocolate cravings are out of control, and it's enough to drive a girl to distraction. Not to mention that Michael looks better than a Godiva-dipped strawberry, and Candy is definitely in over her head. What makes this book so great is a mixture of wonderful writing, witty dialogue, family members that will leave you exasperated and laughing out loud-and the best chocolate recipes that I've ever had the fortune to stumble across. Yes, recipes. Each chapter is prefaced by a chocolate confection with oh-so-punny names such as 'Rebecca's Chuck-the-Guilt Chocolate Chip Cookies' and 'Maria's Something's-Up Frozen Chocolate-Covered Bananas.' The recipes alone are enough to make this book a keeper. The story of a bride who is engaged to be married for all the wrong reasons is an added benefit. The arrival of the man who throws Candy's life into a tailspin is a definite plus. And when it all comes together-to bring to life the story of love, passion, and chocolate-what you end up with is a humorous story of the heart. All in all, for those readers with a gigantic sweet tooth, THE BRIDE WORE CHOCOLATE is a sweet, indulgent love story to cure your cravings.

This story was lots of fun! and worth the time to read it...the typos in the 1st copies were a glitch in the system and are now fixed and it is such a great read!!!

This book was a cute story. Unfortunately it was overrun with so many errors it was hard to understand. I never look for errors and never point them out but, these made the story confusing in some places. I wouldn't recommend this book because of them.

Cute story! Amazing recipes...what's not to like!
Shirley Jump's new book puts us in one of those situations we pray we never find ourselves in...waking up somewhere and not knowing how in the heck we got there! But luckily for us,we don't have to figure out how to get out of the mess...we can just read on and see out how to Candice will get out of it!
When you throw in a crazy, thrill seeking Grandma and cerial marrying Mom, this book is a recipe for a scrumptious afternoon!

Meet Candace Woodrow, a fun-loving 20-something who owns a gift basket business in a Boston suburb with her two best friends. What's not to love about this book? Chocolate and sexy men! Just my style of romance. It's a book sure to keep you giggling. The recipes Shirley shares are DELISH! And the story line is one that will leave you begging for more of the same. It's a great summer read. Light and fresh...you'll love it!

Decent story but the typos are making it very hard to read. There are wrong words in several spots, like someone decided to throw just any word in. And missing punctuation is rampant. I know it was only 2.99 to buy so I feel bad for complaining.

This book is not funny. Numerous typos on this e-book make it almost confusing. The characters are so stock and unrealistic and the author does not bother to give them any authentic dialogue.

Great story but the translation from printed to ebook was not checked very carefully. LOTS of incorrect words or typos which were distracting since you had to re-read the sentence to figure out the meaning.

Story seems to be OK (I'm about halfway through the book), but - enough with the stupid recipes!!!!! A few scattered through the book would be fine - but one after every chapter? Very annoying to have to skip several pages at the end of each chapter. And I won't even get into the numerous typos that are everywhere. Sometimes makes it difficult to figure out what the author was really saying. If this is what the "savory and sweet" series is like, I certainly won't buy any more of them.

Always been a Shirley Jump fan girl and couldn’t wait to settle into my “reading chair” and get started on this one. It definitely didn’t disappoint. I finished it in a day, and I’m almost done with the first half of The Devil Served Desire. I’m not terribly patient, so love it when I discover a series I can just pick up and read straight through.

I've read one other Shirley Jump book (Simply the Best) which had a lot of funny moments, so I decided to give this book a try. So glad I did. I literally howled with laughter. My dog was disturbed, to say the least. LOL. Anyways, I'd definitely recommend this to my friends and I'm going to check out her other books in the series for sure.

I wanted to drop everything at the beginning of each chapter and run into the kitchen and try them (or, to be honest, have a scantily clad but well-built man do it for me. He'd need to do it shirtless, because it's been so hot out lately. I'm just thinking of him, honest). This says good things about the recipes, but the fact that I was so willing to put the book down...not so much. Of course, I didn't put the book down, so read into that what you will....
This book is written in a light, breezy style that is fun to read, though at times the metaphors, which are cute, do get to be a bit much. They're creative, but perhaps used a bit too frequently. I did enjoy the characters, though, and will definitely sign on to read Maria's story, when it's released as an ebook. In all, this was a perfect don't-have-to-think-too-much-it's-summer book. With a HEA. And chocolate.
