Overview

Kathleen Lacey O'Carroll knew she faced an uncertain future when she arrived in Wyoming as a mail-order bride. Then she learns that the man she was to marry hadn't actually ordered her.

As far as John Winterhawke--a fiercely independent half-Indian--is concerned, the last thing he needs is a high-spirited, overeager Irish wife who knows nothing about surviving on the harsh prairie.

However, Lacey senses the rough kindness and simmering hunger under Winterhawke's forbidding demeanor, and sets out to match his dark passion by claiming his wild heart on her terms. But first she has to learn how to cook.

The Bride Wore Spurs made me cry and laugh so often, I had to put it away on the train as I was embarrassing myself! Sharon has an amazing gift of wit, combined with a talent for telling a charming love story in a stunning setting. I could really see and hear the characters as well as imagine the beautiful Wyoming territory as it must have looked nearly 150 years ago. I could not put it down until I finished and then felt bereft there was no more to read!

Good for 99 cents. Sometimes slow moving but then surprised that a year went by. Very annoyed with Kates reveal in the end - it just did not make sense and the storyline fell apart for me and ruined it - as in I doubt I will re read in the future.

Once again Sharon Ihle has created a wonderful, delightful story with some unexpected twists. She is a very talented writer. I would be delighted to recommend her books to book clubs and to Young Adults but because of detailed sexual situations, I cannot do so. The detail is tactfully done, therefore, could be implemented with less detailed and increase her audience.

Not very often a book makes me laugh anymore. This one did.

Loved this story and the main characters in it. Romantic and some giggle out loud moments. I didn't find the ending rushed and was happy with the whole read. My first book with this author but not the last. JudyE

I always enjoy a romance novel that includes a new bride that had no idea what she's doing. It makes it that much more fun when she starts to figure it all out. Really appreciated the main mans patience with his new gal

The Bride wore Spurs was a fun and entertaining story. You couldn't help but love Lacey and fall in love with Hawke also.

This is my first book by Ms. Ihle. It is about 850 pages. The premise of the book was good the leading man - part native american was alph-male which i love. I would have liked for the man to have been given more respect by the author especially in court. The private information about lacey life should have been told in the judges office. I thought that showed too much disrespect to the leading man; otherwise the book was fine. The romance was very good, but not too detailed.

I loved this book. 267 pages. I laughed so hard when Lacey was chasing the chickens and getting milk from the cow I lost my breath. I could not put it down, laughed, cried and got truly p o,ed, I was very sorry when the book ended. I will be reading the rest of the series. GJRA

I liked the characters and the overall story line BUT the back story once it came out did not seem real at all to me. Some parts seemed to drag and some parts were very interesting. Perhaps I expected too much. Also the end seemed rushed to me and we knew a lot about baby Kathleen but never even knew the twins names. Maybe what I am trying to say is that the story seemed incomplete. Also, what happened to Hawke's mother and who raised him? My organized mind was not satisfied.

This book is un-put-down-able. I read all the short stories back to back to back. All the characters are personable, you feel like you know them, and like them! Very good reads, all of them. Very good choice to read, whether it's in front of a fireplace, or on a beach blanket.
