Editorial Reviews

Becky's Book Addiction - Becky Guinn

Oh. My. Goodness. These six stories are filled with humor and entertainment. I have loved Cathy Marie and Kelly Eileen Hake for YEARS and they do not disappoint with these stories, along with one by Tracey Bateman.
Musings on Literature - Jenny Barlow

I like the family sagas because once I find characters that I like, I always wonder what happens to them and their families.  The stories are  all very sweet, and I did like that some of the women had realistic issues with both childbearing and infertility.  There were emotional connections between each of the couples and the interactions between brothers and sisters was fun to read....I would definitely read this author again in the future.
Maria Page - The Page's Page

I enjoyed reading about the different personalities and backstories of the women and how the Chance brothers captured their hearts. I loved having all six books to read one after the other because you could hear about the other characters still!
These Pretty Words - Kristin Grimpe

Beautiful and faith-filled, The Brides of Collection is a perfect sampling of three authors’ work. Each delivers a story of adventure and romance, hope and perseverance.
NetGalley - Larik Burci

If you are the kind of reader (like me) that after reading a book doesn’t want to see the story end, this book is for you, it just keeps on going perfectly balancing out the previous characters and the future ones. I really enjoyed this historical, funny and heartwarming collection and I hope you will too.
Book Reviews by Tima - Tima Murrell

It's a fun, romantic read that will appeal to fans of historical romance.
Abbie's Reading Corner - Abbie Tireman

This was a good read and a great book for traveling or keeping in the car. A very enjoyable book. I highly recommend it.

Meet the Author

Kelly Eileen Hake received her first writing contract at the tender age of seventeen and arranged to wait three months until she was able to legally sign it. Since that first contract a decade ago, she’s fulfilled twenty contracts ranging from short stories to novels. In her spare time, she’s attained her BA in English literature and composition, earned her credential to teach English in secondary schools, and went on to complete her MA in writing popular fiction.

Writing for Barbour combines two of Kelly’s great loves—history and reading. A CBA bestselling author and member of American Christian Fiction Writers, she’s been privileged to earn numerous Heartsong Presents Reader’s Choice Awards and is known for her witty, heartwarming historical romances. A newlywed, she and her gourmet-chef husband live in Southern California with their golden lab mix, Midas!

Cathy Marie Hake is a Southern California native. She met her two loves at church: Jesus and her husband, Christopher. An RN, she loved working in oncology as well as teaching Lamaze. Health issues forced her to retire, but God opened new possibilities with writing. Since their children have moved out and are married, Cathy and Chris dote on dogs they rescue from a local shelter. A sentimental pack rat, Cathy enjoys scrapbooking and collecting antiques. “I’m easily distracted during prayer, so I devote certain tasks and chores to specific requests or persons so I can keep faithful in my prayer life.” Since her first book in 2000, she’s been on multiple best-seller and readers’ favorite lists.

TRACEY V. BATEMAN serves as president of the American Christian Fiction Writers and has more than thirty stories in print. She believes all things are possible and encourages everyone to dream big. Tracey lives with her husband and four children in the beautiful Missouri Ozarks.

This is a really good read. The six stories in this book is about six orphaned brother who all live in California and even work on the same ranch. Each of the three authors write different stories, with Kelly Hake writing three of the stories, Tracey Bateman writing one, and Cathy Hake writing two of the stories. The neat thing was having all six of the stories about the same brothers. I always love continuing stories, and series, so this was a treat for me.
The six stories in this collection are: One Chance in a Million; Second Chance; Taking a Chance; Last Chance; Chance Adventure and Chance of a Lifetime. Instead of going into each of these, a lot of reviews have them already, I want to just tell you that each of these stories are awesome! Even though the book is pretty large with over 570 pages, and that is for six books! And each one is short, so you don’t have to read the entire book at once. And I love the cover and the ragged edges of the pages. The Brides of Chance makes a wonderful coffee table book because it is so beautiful! I highly recommend this book by these three awesome authors!
I received this book from the Barbour Books to read and review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 55

    Lovely Anthology

Beautiful and faith-filled, The Brides of Collection is a perfect sampling of three authors’ work. Each delivers a story of adventure and romance, hope and perseverance.

Anthologies are always a bit of a toss-up. Sometimes you find a single story that touches you, others you end up disappointed in the overall cohesiveness as multiple authors try to work together on a theme. Each story in The Brides of Chance Collection worked well with the others, characters being introduced and flowing through from story to story. This collection is very much a well-worked melding of different styles and tones.

In the end I discovered two authors I will continue to follow and determined one had a writing style that simply didn’t hold my attention. But running through each story is a wonderful sense of belief and romance that kept me flipping pages. Prepare yourself for a journey through time as each Chance brother finds their love, their hope and their reminder of God and faith.

    Good Read

This book is a collection of six short novels. It tells the story of the Chance brothers. The Chance brothers live on a ranch in California. The oldest Daniel had married but after the birth of their 2nd child his wife died leaving the six brothers to help raise the two little girls. They thought they where doing well until the sister of Daniels late wife shows up. From there the stories continue until all six brothers find love.

What I liked: Sometimes I’m a little hesitant to read collection books that are short novella’s written by different authors but I liked this book a lot. Even though the stories are short they are well written and fun. I liked all the brothers and the woman they came to love. All the stories where good, but I liked the first one the best. I enjoyed how the stories were connected and evolved together. It felt more like one novel then six novellas.

What I didn’t like: Over all I liked this book a lot but its long with so many stories. This is not a bad thing really but by the last two stories I was ready to move on. It took me a few weeks to read this book all together.

This was a good read and a great book for traveling or keeping in the car. Because it’s so long reading it continually might seem like a daunting task. A very enjoyable book. I highly recommend it.
