This first-time effort by the novel's father/daughter writing team has met undoubted success. The backdrop and central themes of the story are relevant to individuals of different generations and backgrounds. The structure, dialogue, and descriptive narrative came through clearly and tied the novel together perfectly. The characters are not only believable but also exist within the authors as well as the reader at many different levels. The ending is in essence a superb conclusion to this tale of the misconceptions and hypocrisy that exist within an affluent community that is obsessed in maintaining the false image of perfection.

The Bridge Club has so many elements of a great, page-burning summer read: a coming-of-age story filled with shocking surprises and timely political/societal issues. I read half of it during a real thunderstorm and nearly lost myself turning the pages (the storm is a central theme in the book...). Kudos to this breakout novel by a fascinating father/daughter writing team!
