This books looks at what is generally termed the English Civil War as series of interactive conflicts affecting the three nations of the British Isles. Many previous works have looked at the English Civil War as the main event with some interaction bewtween Englnad and the other two countries, Scotland and Ireland. This one focuses on the causes, course and consequences of these series of events in each of the three elements of the Kingdom, Ireland, Scotland and England-Wales. The rebellions, violence and wars which broke out in this period in the seperate kingdoms were caused by problems unique to each of them as well as interaction between the three. If one is looking for a study focusing on the military aspects of these years, this is not the book you are looking for. Rather this one looks at the military events only in conjunction with relgious, political and other factors. It is not a book of battles and campaigns. Was this review helpful?
