In my earlier review I mentioned selfish protagonists in books and video games and how frustrating they can be. I love all of your other books and wanted more, so I gave this series another chance. VERDICT: I was right the first time. Talsey "appeared" to be benevolent, but all of her choices were made for selfish reasons: she wanted Chanter to love her. How could that earn someone the right to be "The First Chosen"? By the end of this story, her selfishness robbed Chanter of the ONLY thing he ever wanted: his true form. All this book did was piss me off. It DOES NOT make me want to purchase further sequels (which may or may not be written) hoping that poor Chanter escapes that accursed Talsey's Bull***! Who knows what other torture he'll have to go through for freedom now that Talsey's FINALLY gone after living a long life filled with children and surrounded by love? A life she DID NOT deserve it in my opinion. I pray that Bane and Sabre don't end up with similarly miserable endings. (And PLEASE let Blade retire in peace) What a DISGUSTING main character and what a HORRIBLE ending!

Loved this series. A rich and colorful world, with great characters, that kept me reading all four. I also loved the theme that the series was based on.

I have loved everything I have read from T C Southwell. The Demon Lord series, The Queens Blade series and now this. I can't wait to start the next series. Her books really make you feel like you are there and you expierence the emotional trauma the characters feel. And you can't help but grin from ear to ear and get excited when there is happiness for the characters. You feel like you have known them your whole life. MUST READS!!!!

The ending sucked. Chanter didn't deserve you end up like that. Talsy was a horrible brat and selfish the entire series but she gets off scott free and ends up married to the guy she treated like dirt the whole time? Ruined the whole series for me

I cannot purchase book, but would like desperately to know what happened? why did talsy trick him into getting her pregnant?(personally I find her annoying and selfish) trying to force him to stay? and what happened with chanter at the end?(love him!)

This book was frustrating. After book 2 I kept hoping Talsy would mature and become a little less selfish, but instead she became more selfish and conniving. I know it served a purpose to the end of this story, but I was irritated to the point that I put the book aside a few times and had to force myself to finish it. Her unselfish declaration that she wanted Chanter to always be free was never justified because she always made sure he was at her beck and call and the end of this book proved how selfish she was and undeserving of being the "First Chosen". If the Ms Southwell brings Chanter back to continue his story, I hope she gives him a better female counterpart.
