    Fun series

This series is a fun, quick read. It has many creative concepts, exploring love vs dependency and obsession, greater good, etc.

However this is a world in black and white. People are either bad or good, with no gray area in between. Bad people always do the wrong thing even when the right thing would be easy, and are always cruel enough to leave you with no remorse when they get their just desserts. Good people always have pure motives toward the world if not toward each other. This is a formula for fairly simple, 2 dimensional characters. Also, personally, I found one of the main characters to be irritating and unlikeable, a spoiled self-absorbed airhead. I found it intense enough that I skimmed over many of her scenes.

3 stars is a flawed but enjoyable book to me- no great work, but worth reading. I think this author COULD be great, if she added more complexity to her characters and conflicts. She is willing to approach many interesting and seldom explored facets of human nature. And she writes good horses :)
