Overview

A humorous glimpse into the rarefied atmosphere of a small, affluent suburb in Westchester, New York, as experienced by ten wealthy members of a book club.

The Bronxville Book Club takes you beyond the manicured lawns of some of the most elegant mansions in Bronxville, an affluent suburb in Westchester that is "endlessly copied but never matched."

As club members prepare for their monthly meeting, you'll meet...
Kathryn, a divorcée forced to (gasp!) get a job to supplement her substantial alimony payments;
Anne, owner of an upscale boutique, Annetiques, whose home renovation is prompting cries of outrage from her neighbors;
Giselle, former Vogue model who now designs the lingerie she once modeled;
Madison, high-powered investment banker and School Board Trustee;
Lizbet, Yale graduate and über volunteer caught up in the college admissions game for her daughter, a senior in the Bronxville High School;

...and their friends Hillary, Carole, Francesca, Sarah and Chelsea.
Eavesdrop on the lively discussion of I Don't Know How She Does It: The Life of Kate Reddy, Working Mother, and then follow each of the women home at the end of a highly entertaining evening.

A must read for every book club!

Editorial Reviews

New York Times
The novel...has created a stir...with residents venturing guesses as to the real identities of the fictional characters.
The Journal News
"Do the lives of these women sound the slightest bit intriguing? You're not the only one who thinks so. It seems America's latest obsession centers around the lives of suburban women, and we don't just mean the famous five sneaking around Desperate Housewives of Wisteria Lane. There has been a recent outpouring of books, The Bronxville Book Club and The Silent Auction that dive into the lives of suburban women, and many suburban wives are happy to bury their newly done noses between the pages."

    Can't believe I wasted my money

    This has to be the most pointless book I have ever read. I really can't believe I wasted my money on it. Also, $5.00 would be a more reasonable price.
    It didn't even have a point. I kept thinking something was going to happen. Well, it did, it ended.

    Place your brain on hold while reading:

    After seeing all these 5 star reviews, I thought I had found a great new book. So I ordered it. To my dismay, it was the book equivalent of a chick flick. The most attractive thing about it was the house on the cover---a beautiful piece of real estate. It's all about a bunch of vain silly women, who don't even take the time to read the book selections, let alone understand them. These women are raising little Paris Hiltons, Princesses, not Professors. Their cell phone bills alone could support a 3rd world nation for a year. I belong to a thoughtful and sophisticated book club. We choose, for the most part, serious books that are worth the time and effort we put into our discussions, which last several hours. If I suggested 'The Bronxville Book Club' as a title we should be covering, I'd be laughed out of town. I hoped that it might be one of those books that serious readers scoff at and then secretly read at night with a flashlight under their duvets. But alas, it's just a dumb book. Spend your time on something funnier, wittier, more educational, more heart-wrenching more anything. But skip this one and take your mother-in-law to lunch. Best wishes to you all, from a reader with a book to give away.

    A Sensational Read!

    I read at least two books/week, and enjoyed this book more than many I've read over the summer. The women are a wonderful mix of sophistication, self-assurance and (at times) self-doubt. I will look forward to their future exploits!

    Great read

    I love this book. I sure hope the author writes another book, or a sequel to this one. She really did a great job. I couldn't put it down. The characters are women you would meet in any affluent town. If only they were all like Francesca!

    Nanny Diaries moves to Westchester

    My book club just finished this book and we loved it. We're a group of busy women who barely have time to read. This book fit the bill perfectly. It was fun, fast, and gave us lots to talk about. Who wouldn't want to live in Bronxville?
