    What a story!

I loved reading this book, I counldn't put it down! I can't say enough about Mr. Tranter as a writer, He brings to life the very essence of what is Scotland. Although I'm an American, I feel that trough his novels I've made a connetion with the Scots. Although they classify mr. Tranter's books as fiction, he always keeps as close to the truth as possible. I have have read many of mr. tranter's novels and I believe 'the Bruce trilogy' to be the crowning achievement of his expansive career.

    Here's one for Spielberg!

Although Braveheart touched on this time period it made a few mistakes. Robert the Bruce was much younger than William Wallace and held land in England. His wife was introduced by Edward I. The betrayal scene in Braveheart made the young robert look like a fiend. This book and the others by Nigel Tranter seem to have a better grasp on history. Mr Tranter lived his 90 years in Scotland as a writer and a historian where as the author of braveheart grew up in Texas USA. I have truly loved this book.
