Jimmy Tolliver seeks adventure and becomes an unwitting accomplice to bank robbery and murder. Jed Tolliver hides a horrible secret from his family. Matt Winslow and a gang of cutthroats pursue a federal payroll and terrorize local citizens in the process. Laurie Magruder seeks romance on the lonely frontier. And Harlan Locke, an aging, merciless lawman, too stubborn to retire or change his methods, must decide Jimmy's fate, confront Jed Tolliver's past, and thwart Winslow's plans. Locke intends to get the job done, but his odds for survival aren't good.

The Burning Hills is an old fashioned western that will give you a good read. Harlan Locke, the lawman, is crusty on the outside but soft hearted on the inside. An old adversary re-enters his life in the most unusual way, making him re-evaluate all he has stood for his entire life.

The Burning Hills by Will Garret is a good read for all western fans, history buffs and anyone else who enjoys a good story. The main character, Harlan Locke, is definitely a John Wayne type and easy for readers to relate to. The badlands setting is different from most westerns, which enhanced the story for me.
