    Can't get any better than this...

    Rose Levy Beranbaum is a scientist who has taken making cakes to a whole new level. She goes into great depth on how all the ingredients work together. Based on this information she tells you how you can create your own cake recipes. In order to get her results, you must make sure that the ingredients are at the proper temperature. This means that making many of Rose's cakes, require some extra time and attention to detail, but the results are so worth it! I highly recommend this book to learn the basics of making a truly exceptional cake. In addition check out Rose's newest cake book.

    the BEST cake baking book I've ever used

    If you wanted to have only one reference for baking on your shelf, this should be the book. Honestly, I probably have 100 cookbooks, and this is the one I use most often. The why is simple. If you want to be a good baker, simply follow the recipes. They're written very clearly, instructions for pan size, etc., are given with each. You have the option of measuring or weighing almost everything. You can even use metric weights if you prefer. Do what she says and you will consistently turn out lovely cakes. AND...if you want to be a GREAT baker...read the book all the way through. You'll learn the WHY's behind what makes a good recipe, where you can tweak things and when you need to keep the chemistry intact.

    I've been baking a long time, and I thought I knew a fair amount. This book showed me how much better I could be...and I enjoyed every bit of it (as do my family and friend, actually).

    If you will take advice from me about baking, it's to do 2 things. Get this book and buy a scale...after that, you can do anything.

    Very good book, it reads like an encyclopedia of different recipes and how each ingrediant works together to make what it makes. It's kinda like a gourmet cake book.

    If you Bake you need this Book

    This is not the normal "Mix this up and cook it this long book". This is a scientist telling you how, when, WHYand where. You can fail when you use this book...but you will know why. AWESOME!

    An Instructor By Your Side

    The Cake Bible, as well as all of Rose Levy Beranbaum's books, is a step above any baking book I have ever experienced before. No matter which recipe I bake from this book, the response is always the same...the best cake they have ever eaten.

    Although I am new to baking, I now have the confidence of someone with much more experience because I have learned techniques which work..all from Rose Levy Berenbaum.

    The author takes you through each recipe and explains how to do a technique and what result to expect.

    After baking just a few of the cakes in this book, I was able to apply what I have learned to other recipes with extraordinary results.

    In my opinion The Cake Bible is a MUST HAVE for anyone who aspires to baking delicious cakes

    One of the staples in my baking arsenal

    This is, hands down, the best book out there - Ms. Beranbaum explains the science behind the baking, and when one of my non-Rose-Beranbaum recipes fails, this is the book I look to, to find out why. This, along with Tish Boyle's The Cake Book, are cake recipes that do not let me down, and convinced me to buy a scale. As another reviewer commented, if you have this book and a scale, you just can't go wrong!! I have to go make a cake now...

    This is a really great book. In addition to a lot of great recipes, the author takes the time to explain the science behind making a great cake as well as why cakes 'mess up'.

    The Cake Bible

    I use this cake cookbook before I bake any cake. Rose Levy Bernbaum is outstanding baker, and changed the way I bake cakes. Every recipe is outstanding, and easy to understand. Her chocolate fudge cake is a great cake. But there are so many wonderful recipes that the serious cake baker should own this book. When I'm looking for a cake her book is the first one I look through.

    The ONLY cake baking book you need!

    For the beginner, the advanced and for the professional. Read this book from cover-to-cover and you will have received an education. Buy a good scale and listen to Rose.

    Let Them Eat Cake!

    This is one of the best written cookbooks I own, with instructions that are concise and specific. Levy Beranbaum's style is so efficient that in my nervousness, I sometimes think I have missed something. But everything I need always turns out to be in there-- I was just too fretful to see what was plainly before me! While there are some recipes in this book that I never intend to try, I am convinced that Rose Levy Beranbaum's version of all the types of cakes she covers is the best available. This is a wonderful asset to anyone who enjoys baking cakes for any occasion.

    CAN'T BE BEAT!

    I have to say, first of all, that if you plan on getting any of the cheesecake you make from this book, get it before you take the cake in, because you won't get any otherwise. Rose has put a lot of work into this book and you will need no other book for making cakes. Every cake I have made from this book has been a success. Thanks Rose!

    Baking for the Serious Home Baker

    You must be prepared to follow every recipe exactly, but will be rewarded with magnificant cakes. Rose Levy Beranbaum is truly a professional. Don't be discouraged by having to flip through the book to complete some of the more impressive cakes. This is my favorite cake cookbook.

    A Bible?? My vote is in......

    This was a very nice book to read if u are interested in making cakes. Or for that matter, even pancakes. Of course there are also recipes on cupcakes too! This book has such a wide variety of 'cakes' that it leaves nothing left to be desired. The layout of the book is what caught my attention first. It is divided into cake recipes (naturally), but then for things such as icing and filling or whatnot, it refers you to another page in the book. This is very good because it allows YOU, the chef, to vary the same recipe just a tad. Some of the colorful pictures are too delightful if u ask me. They actually make you wanna BAKE it.....go figure. Of course, there is a small qualm about this book that might keep someone from getting it. It is the fact that the book actually jumps around. Sure it is weird and might push some people away, but for the most part, I think it was rather ingenious of Mrs. Beranbaum to design the book in this way. I guess I should note that I wont actually be using this book for cooking since I'm buying this as an Xmas gift for a friend. Thus, this review is something I just 'observed' briefly while skimming the book.
