I have tried about a dozen cake recipes from this book - I started with the bundt cakes because I had never attempted to make my own frostings and was a little nervous. I was thrilled with all the cake recipes - they all turned out just so moist and delicious. I recently got brave enough to try my hand at several of the frostings - I was amazed at how easy they actually were and how delicious. They are so much better than any store bought frosting I have ever tried - nothing but rave reviews from friends and family.

However, while there was some repetition of recipes in the first two volumes, there seemed to be more repeats and "reworking" of previous recipes in this volume. As always, helpful hints and tips for a specific recipe are included, along with space in the margins for notes. Unfortunately, some of the more general tips are interspersed throughout the book, rather than in one section, which can make locating useful information time consuming. She does include a conversion and recipe modification section in the introduction, which should prove helpful, since the recipes tend to be categorized by pan size. Probably not recommended as a basic volume, but might be a nice addition for a baker wanting to broaden their cake horizons.

I LOVE this book for making desserts and sweets with ease but looking like it took HOURS.... great for busy cooks that don't want the "usual cake, cookies, muffins, breads, etc". Each recipe starts with a boxed cake mix and then has added to it traditional kitchen ingredients to create a wonderful concotion that no one would believe started with a cake mix. I have used several of the cupcake recipes and even made cupcakes from some of the cake recipes. People have commented on the quality & difficulty of my baked items, as I smile knowing how simmple the recipes were. The Cake Doctor Returns is such a practical book and a must for anyone who bakes. I am getting one for my son and his future wife, they will LOVE it too!!

As a regular baker/contributor to my community's household party circuit (we are a very social community and we do have many, many household parties), I depend on her to make my commitment to present birthday cakes, made at least monthly for my dear friends and neighbors, the hit of the party. The compliments keep coming. THANKS, Ms. Byrn!

Really have enjoyed trying Anne's various takes on baking! Everything I have tried has been easy and turned out excellently. Definitely a good buy for a home baker that doesn't like to take the time to do everything from scratch.
