This book is all you need to learn or to expand your knowledge of the various hands from Roman ~ Modern. Each hand gives a brief History, recommend supplies & suggested uses for style. Clear, concise & easy to read. Spiral bound, stays open for quick and easy reference. LOVE IT ! :)

I have had this book for less than a week and devoured it. All the hands are lushly illustrated. Accompanying comments and side bars add dimension to the narrative. I would love to see more cadeault/cadel and illlumination and ornamation, but why carp. This is a brilliant compliation. Put your pens down and get this book!

This book has 100 different types of lettering. The different styles of alphabet have been grouped by style so its easy to follow. Each style of letter has a "point of interest" so that the artist can distinguish what makes that particular style of alphabet unique. The spiral binding is great, no fighting with the pages. The only reason I did not give it five stars is that I am disappointed in the Copperplate section. It is very brief. If you already know how to do Copperplate it will suffice. I do not so I had to order a separate book. Not a big deal though.
