We'll admit it, we're both huge suckers for a good romance story. This book definitely dished out the romance, which made us both happy!
Mandy has a lot of baggage: her fiance' dumped her when he found out she had breast cancer. She's still dealing with the emotional trauma of going through cancer and hoping she doesn't relapse, while also building herself up after the love of her life leaves her.
Enter Justin, friend of Mandy's ex and yummy man extraordinaire. He's always been attracted to Mandy and he intends to woo her (did we just say "woo"?). :)
Justin does exactly what he plans on doing, sweeps Mandy off her feet and makes both of us swoon with his romantic notions.
But that's not all, you see, Justin has a paranormal element to him. Something that tore his own mother and father apart. Something that he's secretly worried Mandy won't accept.
As the story goes on, Mandy's ex becomes involved and things just get all sorts of complicated.
We loved this book and definitely recommend it to fellow romance lovers!

The Calling was a very enjoyable read. It provided a mixture of the paranormal into everyday life. I would have liked to see a little more of the paranormal and demigod brought into the story, but that is a personal preference and it was still a good read.
Ashley Willis did a good job in creating her characters. She made it possible for us to feel for them as and what they were going thru. They had strong chemistry, which enhanced the emotional rollercoaster they were both on as they have so many things to overcome in their pasts and with their relationship. Add in a jealous ex-fiance and the alpha male mix just gets stronger and better.
Characters: With Mandy, Ashley did a great job showing how cancer can affect someone not just as they are going through it, but long after and in ways that many people would never understand. Ashley did a very good job showing how Justin shouldered the weight o his guilt from events passed and how it effected him in his daily life.
This book was definately worth the read.

I loved the character development, I really felt like I knew the characters and that we'd been friends for awhile now.
It's been a year since Mandy found out she had cancer, she's gone through the treatment and had her breast removed. She's very cautious about "living" and fears that the cancer will come back. Ty has had the hots for her ever since he met her but unfortunately his bestfriend snagged her first. The jerk then dumps her, after he has proposed, because of the cancer. Because of that Mandy cuts off all ties with Ty, not wanting to come between friends. Turns out the jerk slept with one of Mandy's friends not long after dumping her and Ty (such a gentleman) dumps his friend (smart man). That's all I will say so I don't give too much away. :)
I really hated that it had to end, it just flowed so well. Definitely one of my faves and I will probably end up reading it again and again.

Don't let the number of pages run you off. I really loved this book i am not a big SiFi fan or paranormal fan at all but i started reading this book and could not put it down. The relationship between Mandy and Justin was something woman only dream about. Once you start it you will not just want to finish it you will need to finish it. It was a good buy for 99cents
