    i am giving this book 5 stars simply because it works IF you LOV

    i am giving this book 5 stars simply because it works IF you LOVE sugary and starchy foods and have trouble controlling your cravings/diet. the individual may have to tweak some things in the book (for instance, i eat my fruits now 2 hours before dinner, because i cannot stomach fruits in the evening with my dinner)...but if you stick to it, it does work. i lost 8 lbs in about 3 weeks following the diet, i am more energetic than before and now my bodily functions seem way more regulated. the first 3 days are the most difficult, but afterwards it becomes very easy to follow this plan. if you find yourself hungry between meals, then load up on carb free snacks, such as salad, to hold you over until the next meal. i eliminate my need for snacking by eating my main meals until i am full...or breaking my main meal (which is carb free) into two smaller meals. this diet IS NOT FOR EVERYONE, but for those of us who struggle with sugary foods. it is a blessing! the writing in the book is also extremely easy to follow and understand, and i really appreciate how dr. keller explains to us the workings of the body, and why we retain weight the way we do. this really helps put everything into perspective and make sense of the diet. i find that if i wander off the diet, i go back to feeling sluggish, overeating and having little control over my cravings. when i stick to the diet, the weight drops off easily and i feel and look better. i definitely recommend this book to anyone who is addicted to sugary foods and cannot control their cravings. again, it's not for everyone, but there are many people who are benefiting from a diet that restricts their carb intake, and this book is one of the better ones out there on the subject.

    BRAVO! Finally a reasonable diet.

    What a welcome respite from the no-carb fad. I a self-described carb addict -- doughnuts in the morning, fast food for lunch, and pasta for dinner. I have just started this diet, and though I do love my carbs, I've been able to wait for my rewards meal. The results have been great -- I'm down to my college weight and I just feel better. Thanks!

    This diet really works!

    I had just had my second child and had lost all my baby weight. One day while at a girl friend's house I noticed she looked great. She also had recently had a baby so I asked her how she had managed to loose her weight. She told me about this diet book and I too was very reluctant but since I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes at the end of my pregnancy I had been told by my dietician that since I started my pregnancy over weight that I really needed to make an extra effort to get back to a healthy weight after the baby was born. So I decided that I would just try this diet. I was shocked at how quickly it started to work. It was a very easy diet to stick to since you can eat one regular meal per day. I ended up loosing 36 pounds and have managed to keep it off after 2 1/2 years.

    If it works for me it will work for anyone

    I was skeptical of this diet since nothing else has worked for me. One week later, I am down by eight pounds and still going. This is great! I actually believe that I can lose the weight now! The cravings are gone and the hunger is gone!

    I can't believe it!

    I started the Carbohydrate Addict's diet the day after school was out. I'm 17 years old, and I'm not overweight, and I wasn't even fretting so much about how I looked; I was obsessed with food. I would joke with my friends about how I could never become anorexic because I like food too much, but it's true. My mom bought the book a while ago, and it's been sitting around the house, so the first day of summer, I picked it up and read it. I was VERY skeptical when I began, because just a few months earlier, I had failed at a low-calorie, moderate-exercize diet. Well, I've been on it for eight weeks, and I've lost 11 pounds, but the most important thing is that I've regained control of myself. I can finally say no to food when I'm not hungry, and I've never been so energetic in my life (which may be a bit frightening for those who know me :) ). Coming from a girl who despises counting calories and exercizing, who has never said no to a piece of chocolate in her life until now: this diet works.

    Doctor Recommended

    I told my doctor that I was so frustrated with myself. It seemed that no matter what I did, I couldn't lose weight. In fact, the less I ate the more I would gain. There were times when I would eat and two hours later I was hungry again and knew it wasn't just in my head. He said buy this book and he would guarantee that if I followed it, I would lose weight. Guess what! He was right. I have lost 30 lbs in 3 months and I have more to go. This is the best diet I have ever seen. I can't believe how my cravings are gone and sometimes my husband has to remind me to make a meal. The fact that you can eat what you want every day makes this so special. No measuring. Yes, you can eat fried foods. Yes, you can have dessert. Sounds too good to be true! It's not. This is definitely worth the time and money. This is the first time that I actually know I will reach my goal and stay there. This diet is actually fun! Enjoy your meals with your family and friends. Eating out is no problem at all. Enjoy!

    People tell me how good I look and I feel even better!

    I started this diet January 1, 2001, yes: losing weight was my new year's resolution. It is now March 06, 2001 and I have lost 17 lbs. I feel wonderful and the cravings are gone. Be careful with food fillers, such as bread crumbs in meatloaf - people may mess up here. Eating out is worry-free and if you don't have much time, grab a grilled chicken salad at fast food restaurants. Because of the Reward Meal, you are NOT deprived of your favorite foods. I'm in college and if I can do it, so can you! Thank-you, Hellers!!!!!

    The easiest diet ever

    I have tried many diets and even have had surgery to loose weight but nothing worked until I tried the carbohydrate addict's diet. I found the book to be easy to follow and what they say is true. I am not hungry and I am loosing weight fast. It is well worth the investment and I think this is a diet I can stay on for life. The upcoming holiday season will be a lot easier with the reward meal.

    WOW is all I can say!!!!!!!!

    The book is so easy to read!!!! While I was reading it I actually cried. I couldn't believe that I finally had found a cure for my torment. I started the diet 4 days ago, and have lost 4lbs. I have so much energy I can't believe it. I am also not hungry and my mood has only changed from happy to happier.

    Incredible!

    I have been on the Hellers' diet for 19 weeks and have lost 14 pounds. I'm thrilled! I'd like to lose about 10 more, but if I don't I'll be happy to stay where I am. I can count on one hand the number of times I've 'cheated,' because the desire to do so is gone. This is no longer a diet for me; it's a new way of eating. I cannot imagine going back to the way I was eating before, because I feel so much better now. Thank you, Drs. Heller!

    I lost 27 pounds in 5 months and counting..!!

    I loved the book...very encouraging and doable diet..I modified it a bit to suit my life style and it still works..this is not a diet for me, but a change in my eating habits. Like they say in the book..if you think you are a Carbo addict go for it buy the book..but if you are not it's not for you. I was..and no more cravings..that's the great part..I take my 'hour of power' in the mornings cause i was fed up with the eggs..since i did that my weight loss continued..I flat lined before that..Anyways great book,be ready in your heart and soul and then have fun with this..The recipes are ok..but the diet is soooo simple that what ever you have in the 'fridge' is OK!!!!The book is a good way to get started then you can be on your own.

    Is this suppossed to make me feel good?

    I would give this book 2 stars since it was easily written. I went to BN with my cousin for a night and wimsied right through it. However, once I started the diet, I felt so tired and I was more hungry than I've ever been. Also, my body wasn't retaining its tone no matter how hard I tried. I lost 3 pounds in 5 days, but I realize that I will never go on a 'diet' anything again. Eat right and exercise usually works, and watching what I eat gives me more self-discipline rather than depriving myself of one of the main food groups for a major part of hte day. Instead of low, why not limit?

    I never feel deprived and I lost 65 pounds

    I can hardly believe it. I've lost 65 pounds (20 more to go) and I'm never deprived. I eat bread and chocolate cake at my Reward meals and I don't feel like I'm struggling any more. I would definiitely recommend this to anybody who thinks they have tried everything. It really works. I saw them to Oprah and thought it was just my answer, and I was right. My husband is in shock. I never have cravings anymore. I am very grateful.

    The Easiest Diet in the World

    I don't have time to cook or fuss. I barely have time to breathe. When I found this book I had 80 pounds to lose and now I deciding whether I want to continue losing or stay at size 10! The easiest diet in the world. No need to cook - you can eat out at any restaurant including fast food restaurants and you never have to measure. The cravings were gone in days just like they said. I will always be grateful to my friend Amy for being brave and giving me this book. Thanks Amy - I don't know what I would have done without it. And you'll like to reward meal every day so you have no need to cheat. I thought I had given up and now I'm so gald I tried this and found the answer for the rest of my life.

    I can't believe it ... and neither will you!

    It's amazing! I've lost 7-1/2 pounds in 5 weeks with NO cheating and no desire to cheat. The cravings disappeared from day one. In addition to enjoying the fact that my clothes fit better, I FEEL so much better physically than I did when I was eating such high levels of sugar and carbs. This is definitely a lifetime eating plan more than a diet, and it's very painless. If you've had trouble losing weight in the past, try it! You'll be amazed, too.

    No results

    I bought this book to help me lose the last 10 pounds I need to lose...I ended up gaining 2 pounds and followed a different plan in the book and nothing happened. The book is written clearly enough but takes alot of time to make special recipes and is hard to follow when you are not at home much. Good for people who have alot of time on their hands. I was not happy with the results and think that watching calories and fat is the way to lose, not by watching carbs.I felt deprived because I had lots of food at home and I could only eat it at a certain time and sometimes I wasn't hungry for it that hour when I could eat it. I guess this diet is not for everyone.

    It works for me!

    While it is true that this book could be condensed down to a much smaller volume, this does not change the fact that the diet worked for me. I checked with my doctor before I started because I had read all the nutritionist's comments about the problems with a high fat diet. This is how we looked at it: I ate too much fat before. How did the diet change this? I eat less, and I eat better. Under this diet, I actually eat MORE vegetables than I used to. I used to eat a burger or grilled cheese and bacon for lunch. Now, its a small salad with grilled chicken. I'm not hungry all day. By the time I do get hungry, its time to eat. I'm also no longer tired all day, which resulted in a lower caffeine intake. Since I'm not tired all day, I perform better at work. I see my doctor regularly to check my progress and my blood tests (my cholesterol is up slightly, but still OK). I know you might be thinking 'Yeah right. I bet this thing solved all your problems.' I wouldn't say that, the cat still hasn't come home. Seriously, this worked for me, boosted my self esteem (because I could actually stick to it), and lets me get my weight issues under control ONE THING AT A TIME.
