British label JSP offers another of their fine budget collections on The Carter Family, Vol. 2: 1935-1941. On 129 songs collected on five CDs, this second volume in the series gives a complete overview of the first family of country music's later years. Legendary songs like "Can the Circle Be Unbroken," "Keep on the Sunny Side," "No Depression," "Single Girl, Married Girl," and "I'm Thinking Tonight of My Blue Eyes" are all represented, and the sound quality is slightly more even than on the first JSP box, The Carter Family: 1927-1934. "The Best Deal going in American Root Music"!

"The Carter Family,Vol.2 is a real find for the "True" lover of Classic Country Music(not this new modern pop stuff being past off these days). For the age of these recordings the sound comes through clean and fresh. This collection will be played over and over again and enjoyed more every time it is heard. One word of caution listening to Sara & Maybelle's singing is a hundred and eighty degree turn then tuning in on a modern group like the Dixie Chicks. These CD's are the real thing and the words that AP Carter put to music really express the toil, stress, depression as well as the joy from an era that our only true connection to at this time is through it's music! If you think that real Country Music is watching a music video with a girl showing her navel while singing and dancing around dressed like a B Drinker this set of CDs is not for you. But if you have a real need to hear only the real thing you can't go wrong with this set- it's a real five star collection !
